The year was 1482. It had begun. In a barn, where sandy gravel encircled the dank, wooden planks that made up the desperate shelter, candles flamed. At that precise moment if one was to peak through the colossal, splintered doors then what would have entered their eyes would have scarred them. The barn was decorated with banners golden-red in colour and candle flames flickered like the twitching tongue of an angry serpent. A smell of disgusting rot circled amongst the decayed, wooden beams and entered the nostrils of each man. As it did a smile curled their lip upwards. Five long benches on each side of the barn were filled up with shadowy figures dressed in gowns of the same colour as the torn banners. Between the two sets of benches, which were squeezed up against the outer most wall of the barn a worn gravel path led up to a stone stage that lay fractured upon the dusty floor.
