Star Wars: The New Era was the first large Star Wars modification attempt made on Source Engine. It was produced by Invision Games, a group of over 60 modders and Star Wars fans that have evolved from the Movie Battles 2 community and a mod team working on "Star Wars: Source" before. Star Wars: The New Era was supposed to become a class-based multiplayer experience featuring objective-based scenarios. The project was abandoned in 2013 after all of the remaining team members dropped due to time constraints after starting to study or working in the industry. Initially, the latest state of the mod was planned to be released under Creative Commons license to allow the community to continue the work. Unfortunately, getting in contact with many former team members in order to open-source their work did not work out, so the decision was made not to release any assets without express permit by the respective authors.

I don't think rocket launchers are a good choice to put into (what I assume will be) close quarters maps like this. That was hell to deal with in Battlefront 2. (It looks excellent, though)

I did like it in Battlefront, to be honest. But it's pretty different from our approach, since Battlefront was rather arcadey, while TNE uses a slower, more tactical approach.

Agreed. You guys are doing a great job of pushing the engine to its limits. Keep up the good work!

nah... I can't see anything what "pushes the limits" of source engine. It's really nice work, good detail and pretty textures, also composition is clear and it looks good. But what exactly here isn't look like source engine? Is it something what have stuck in minds of people, something like hl2/css standard content?

Most likely. Of course, many mods recycle models and materials from the original game which has its own, very distinct look. Obviously, pretty much none of these assets could be used for Star Wars, so we created everything from scratch.

Well what made me say that is that how different models and textures are from HL2/Source's default ones, sure it is a Star Wars mod but still, the textures and models looks so much like Star Wars that doesn't makes me remember that it is a mod.
