MOD installation, removal, features, game menus, switches... Anything related to the game and its mechanics. Not for discussing ships or tactics. This board is only for the nuts and bolts of the MOD.

Hi Greg, have you tried the game with shader 1? Is your Homeworld 2 patched to v1.1?

Please put your bug reports into the bug reporting thread, and a copy of the error log might be helpful too

Hi is there a Map editor for ST:Continuum.

Aug 28 2011 Anchor

If/When is the UI going to be totally LCARS? At the moment its just the font on the build/research part.

So how did you guys get HW2 to run on Windows Vista/7/64bit?

Q. - Hi is there a Map editor for ST:Continuum.
A. - Just the standard Homeworld 2 map editor, there is one available on the Relic forums

Q. - If/When is the UI going to be totally LCARS? At the moment its just the font on the build/research part.
A. - It's unlikely that we'll do an entirely LCARS UI as all three races use the same UI, it may cause multiplayer mischief (desyncs) and it's terribly tedious

Q - So how did you guys get HW2 to run on Windows Vista/7/64bit?
A - Refer to the "One week of Continuum" news post, answer also below

Q. Windows DEP keeps killing Homeworld 2! What do I do?!?!
A. Follow these 7 steps:
1- Install the game
2- Update to 1.1
3- Open a command prompt (type ''cmd'' in the search bar, right click on "cmd.exe" and run it as an administrator!)
4- Copy/paste the following line of text (you can right click to access the paste option)
bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff
5- If "Operation Completed Sucessfully" appears then restart your computer
6- When your computer comes back on right click on your Homeworld 2 shortcut(s) and set it to ''Run as Administrator''
7- Press Allow and ENJOY!!!
P.S. You will need to allow the game to run as administrator every time you play

Hello,
It's very impressive mod that I like very much. It's one of these mods that make me wonder how talented are some fans and how much effort (their spare time, knowledge, work and so on) they offer simply for free to others not so talented players (like myself for example :) ). I'm grateful for all that.

But I also want to try and learn something, so here goes my question. Is there any possibility to modify ships stats for your own ST Continuum play? I know that this can be done by modifing unpacked files in ST_main.big file, but how to re-pack them into ST_main.big file after changes and force them to work in-game?

Sorry for my English.

Hi Borogwain,

If you're modding HW2, at whatever level, then having a directory specified is the best way to go about playing the game!

You need a copy of English.big, EnglishSpeech.big, Homeworld2.big and Music.big in the folder and the uncompressed mod files.

Then you use a shortcut path like this:

"C:\Game Files\Sierra\Homeworld2\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe" -datapath "C:\Game Files\Sierra\Unpacked Mods\CONTINUUM" -overrideBigFile -luatrace

If the developers of any HW2 mod had to compress the file before testing then no one would mod HW2 ever :P

Hmm. And you finished the installation without any errors, e.g. the installer didn't say "Cannot find HW2.exe"? It'd also be interesting if the HW2 log says anything more specific (\Homeworld2\Bin\Release\HW2.log).

The eras ?

Is there anyway I can set the era to ent, tos, tmp etc ?

I allways start in TNG.

And is their any cheat way to get mor RUS in the Skirmish mode

Nathanius

The TNG era is what's in release BETA, we are currently working on the TMP era for release GAMMA and the TOS and ENT eras will follow in other releases.

The only way to cheat and change the starting RU is to unpack the mod files and change the starting resources in the Deathmatch file, 10,000 Dilithium should be more than enough to get a game going though?

Will the AI use the Dominion Alliance? I haven't seen any Dominion ships in any of my skirmish maps yet.

Yes the AI will use them but only in the sense that all ships are AI controlled. If you break an alliance you will see the AI use them against you more than you care to. You must first make an alliance before you can utilize their ships though. To do this you must have a good supply of resources.

Do you have HW2 installed? If it can't locate it then you need to point the installer at the Homeworld2 folder (this is all explained on the installer as well)
