Full release of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Invisibility Mod. The base installation of this modification without any patches applied.
The full release of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Invisibility Mod. Works with S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl (1.0005-1.0006), S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky (1.5.10) and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat (1.6.02) as well as the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Chernobyl (1.4.22) and MISERY 2.2 modifications.
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
- Please make a backup copy of your gamedata folder before you use this mod. A new save game is recommended when using this mod.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
- Allows you to play the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games with invisible stalkers, monsters, weapons or all three.
- Designed to work with S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl (1.0005-1.0006), S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky (1.5.10), S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat (1.6.02) and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Chernobyl (1.4.22). May work with other patches of these games, though this is done at the user's risk.
- As a bonus, this mod is also compatible for the MISERY mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat (MISERY 2.2). See the credits at the bottom of this document for a link to the correct patch (side note: this mod also comes with alife.ltx options, including the default option, which should be placed in gamedata\configs to take effect - these only affect AI simulation distance and aim to combat memory issues that are inherent to MISERY).
- This mod does not affect UI icons. Also, Poltergeists and Pyrogeists, as well as any apparitions, are not affected by this mod. Does not affect detectors. Also does not affect miscellaneous items added by mods such as MISERY (i.e. cooking equipment). Only affects the default weapons for each of the games and mods listed above.
- The player can still be seen by mutants and other stalkers with this mod installed, regardless of the patch used (unless stated otherwise).
- Starting a new game is highly recommended.
NOTABLE ISSUES:
## INVISIBLE STALKERS AND MUTANTS
- None at present.
## INVISIBLE WEAPONS
- Rare crashes upon starting a new game. Mostly runs fine under the same conditions. Possible loading error. See "known_bugs" folder in the Call of Chernobyl section for full crash log (S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Chernobyl, 1.4.22).
- Crashes may occur upon loading a save with a lot (quantity unspecified) of weapons dropped near the player. In response to this, the size of the invisible texture file (named "actor_stalker_body_invisible.dds") has been greatly reduced with the MISERY 2.2 patch in this mod (S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: MISERY 2.2).
- **The crash above may result in a blank crash log being produced. Crash only diagnosed through testing.
- Inherent to the MISERY mod and vanilla CoP (Call of Pripyat), a lower switch_distance used in the alife.ltx file (lower than the default; default value is 300) can cause issues with the mission "Unknown Signal" towards the latter end of the game. Spoilers aside, the player has to follow a minimap marker along a set path, that of which is broken if the player has a low switch_distance value in their alife.ltx file. Players may lower their switch_distance as it can reduce the strain on the systems (the higher the value, the further away NPCs are simulated by the game). Reducing your switch_distance to 150 is fine throughout the main storyline of this game, though it will need to be reverted to the default value just for this specific mission (the mission is very short). Other settings for alife.ltx switch_distance values can either be tweaked by users or taken from the selection of alife.ltx files that accompany the Invisibility Mod's installation. Not required to make the Invisibility Mod run (S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: MISERY 2.2).
- Inherent to the MISERY mod, crashes due to low memory may occur (not attributed to the Invisibility Mod). Try using a lower switch_distance value (see above) and reverting back to the default value (300) or lower once you move away from the area where the crashes may occur. Otherwise, play on a lower switch_distance setting (S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: MISERY 2.2).
- In testing, I did detect that a CTD (crash to desktop), giving a blank crash log, will almost always occur when spawning the Mosin-Nagant M1891/30 (wpn_m1891) via the spawn menu referenced in the credits of this document. Not inherent to the Invisibility Mod and not found to be inherent to the MISERY mod, as stalkers appear to be using this weapon without causing crashes. In testing, I was also able to use this weapon without issues prior to experiencing these crashes. No .ltx files of the weapons were altered, only their meshes (S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: MISERY 2.2).
- 01/05/2023; in addition to the previous point, in the "known_bugs" folder has a crash log that includes the message "Can't find model file 'dynamics\weapons\wpn_m1891\wpn_m1891_l.ogf'.", but this has since been fixed. Substituted this with a duplicate of an existing model of this weapon (both are Mosin-Nagant rifles) (S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: MISERY 2.2).
