If you haven’t played 2007’s most immersive and atmospheric shooter, or you’re back for replay, this mod is for you. This is the world of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. like you’ve never seen before, with updated graphics and added functionality that don’t change the original story or gameplay. The game hasn’t been changed beyond recognition, but rather enhanced while preserving the core elements that made it the unique experience it is.

i get the out of range error from my screen, but the resolution i use is definitely supported 5:4 1280x1024.

my guess were the new shaders and i deactivated most effects, but the problem still occurs.

is there a way to force it to use the vanilla shaders?

i only have a GeForce 9800GTX 512 VRAM

EDIT:

as for the resolution: i use 1280x1024 as desktop, in almost all games and it also worked with SOC vanilla.

i already edited the user.ltx to use that resolution - it still doesn't work.

vanilla game worked just fine with all graphic details on maximum (except AA, because AA always looks shitty).

I'd disable most shader effects anyway, as i hate them:

- Bloom/HDR is always way too exaggerated and redundant, as my eyes do the effect naturally, when there are very bright spots on the screen.

- motion blur is only usefull when you can't accept seeing frames when turning very fast

- DOF takes my choice of where to focus

- fsaa just makes everything look blurry -> i only use 2x because foliage can be hard on the eye without it

all i need to know is how to revert the mod to use the vanilla shaders.

confirmed that it's the shaders: renaming the r2 folder let the game start as usual, but of course now graphic effects are crazy.

i can see the skybox through sidorovic's bunker walls and the evening sun through the houses, but i haven't played long enough to tell if there are even more oddities.

edit: now suddenly without doing anything, it suddenly doesn't start again. just showing the same "out of range" error.

I got this problem in vanilla shoc, what really fixed was changing this line from off to on:

rs_refresh_60hz

Maybe it will help you

thanks, will see for that. also i found the mod installed a config folder into C:\ although the game uses the System Drive D:\

The mod does NOT check where the game is installed or where the system's standard paths are.
