How to report crashes Thread - Narodnaya Solyanka mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl

If your game crashes or locks up, look for the log file that the game creates before you run the game again (Stalker will overwrite the log each time you start the game).

This log file is the only way myself or someone else can decipher what actually caused your crash. Without this, no support is possible.

The logfile may be stored in a few different areas depending on the version of Stalker you have (CD, GoG, Steam).

Check the following directions for the logfile:

• \Users\Public\Documents
• \Users\Public\Public Documents
• \Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents
• For Steam users, the game uses the directory assigned to $app_data_root$ in fsgame.ltx. Usually is within the game folder>_appdata_> logs

The logfile will be called "xray_<your_user_login>.log*.

Once you locate this log file, open it up with the text editor of your choice. At the very bottom of that file will be section that starts with "FATAL ERROR". Please copy and paste everything below this line into your thread as this is what is exactly causing your crash.

Please note, if you crashed and the logfile is completely blank or there is no "FATAL ERROR" listed at the bottom, this means it is an "out-of-memory" crash. Even if you might have a great PC, the old xRay engine simply is unable to take advantage of this. If you have this type of crash, you will need to lower your graphic settings and this will correct the issue.
