Deus Ex is one of the best PC games in history, but even it isn't without its faults and shortcomings. Shifter addresses these and then some. Unused game content, buggy scripted events, several completely useless items, and certain design choices that can only be described as "annoying", all fixed (or at least "improved") by this little mod. I started Shifter in 2002 to fix just one of the latter -- the fact that weapons equipped with a laser sight won't turn it on automatically -- and the project has expanded exponentially since then. A few new weapons, some additional uses for existing items, new augmentations, and several fixes for existing Deus Ex bugs all exist in Shifter, along with a new multiplayer component. The mod is so popular it's been featured in Game Informer's July 2007 edition of Mod World; how many Deus Ex mods can say that? (only 3, to be specific) Shifter: "Removing the suck from Deus Ex" since 2002.

It would be nifty if you could give medkits to Miguel to restore his health.

It would also be nice if he didn't get stuck on doors so much. He usually gets through eventually but I still have to go shove the door open for him somewhat frequently.

More pie in the sky stuff - it would be cool to get a unique icon for the Skull Gun since it uses the infolink icon right now (or IFF, one of those). On the same note, rate of fire mod currently uses the silencer skin for its model so it'd be nice to have a unique skin for it. I don't know any graphic artists unfortunately. I'm so helpful!

Speaking of the Rate of Fire mod, in the item description Rate of Fire is capitalized like that where it probably shouldn't be since it's not being used as a proper noun in that context. Something like 'blah blah lubricating mechanics blah increases Rate of Fire of some weapons'.

In the MJ12 Hong Kong helibase, on the sign on the toxic gas release, personnel is misspelled with one N, though it's easy to attribute that to bad English if local contractors made the sign, so I'm not complaining. Earlier on however, while escaping UNATCO, I noticed the world map on the wall above the desk right before you come out in the medical bay is flipped so it's like you're looking at it in a mirror. This may or may not be within the scope of Shifter to correct... or maybe the guy manning that desk is just a contrary sort.
