Deus Ex is one of the best PC games in history, but even it isn't without its faults and shortcomings. Shifter addresses these and then some. Unused game content, buggy scripted events, several completely useless items, and certain design choices that can only be described as "annoying", all fixed (or at least "improved") by this little mod. I started Shifter in 2002 to fix just one of the latter -- the fact that weapons equipped with a laser sight won't turn it on automatically -- and the project has expanded exponentially since then. A few new weapons, some additional uses for existing items, new augmentations, and several fixes for existing Deus Ex bugs all exist in Shifter, along with a new multiplayer component. The mod is so popular it's been featured in Game Informer's July 2007 edition of Mod World; how many Deus Ex mods can say that? (only 3, to be specific) Shifter: "Removing the suck from Deus Ex" since 2002.

First, amazing mod. Shifter's now my go-to mod whenever I play the game (and I've easily racked up a good 150 hours or so over the years). All those little touches put a nice spin on it, and I do feel like a badass when I accomplish long-range headshots. I had a couple of suggestions that may benefit the mod:

Changes:

1) I'm not sure what piece of music it is, but the soundtrack when you enter the 747 Hangar for the first time (Airfield Outro?) seems too... bombastic for a moment that is downbeat and surprising. The music makes you feel like you're taking part in some big, heroic moment, but the only action is Paul's revelation and you (potentially) killing all the now-friendly NSF soldiers. Seems kind of off-kilter with the mood in that moment.

Additions:

) I know that you put the datapad in JC's office that references Manderley's safe when you're escaping for the last time. Is there any way to make that safe accessible? I know the devs stopped work on it because it would seem absurd that the player could rob Manderley right in front of him, but it does (on the second visit, after the generator mission) have a range mod inside of it. That might be a cool little addition.

) There seems to be unused "Outro" music during the UNATCO escape (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOzmbwiedXc). Consider throwing this in? I like the whole melancholy "what could have been" atmosphere it makes.

) There's an unused image of a UNATCO public safety notice that you were
supposed to find in Hell's Kitchen (via the "allimages" cheat) that
discusses how the area is now under martial law. Maybe that could be
reintegrated somewhere in the third visit to NYC (in the Underworld Bar,
perhaps?)

Keep up the great work!
