I was wondering, if BFME 1 is the right platform though. Does it have more game engine restrictions as ROTWK, or it's just the same?
They do. But BFME1 is designed entirely around castles. RotWK, while having some real improvements in terms of moddability, is not. Which means you'll always be dealing with issues - AI, units unable to properly stand on walls and shoot arrows without constantly trying to run off, and plenty of other issues that I can't remember off-hand.

BFME1 is the right platform if you want to have camps and castles, for sure.
Shadow and Flame for RotWK would basically be AotR.
but edain mod team use Rotwk and still they use bfme 1 castles mechanic, no ?
