WORLD WIDE – March 2nd, 2005 - The Sands-of-War™ team, one of the world's acclaimed developer teams, today announced that Sands-of-War 1.5, the highly-anticipated Half-Life™ mod, has gone gold and will soon be avaible for download.
"Mods with this kind of ground breaking gameplay and graphics is something HL players have wanted for years," said Michael Schmidt, Chief Executive Officer at Sands-of-War. "The Sands-of-War team has created a truely amazing game experience based on feedback from the community and the fans." Furthermore he expresses the great joy it is to work with such a dedicated and talented team of developers.
The Sands-of-War 1.5 players are going to need servers to play on. We therefore would like to encourage everyone to open a dedicated Sands-of-War 1.5 server.
We would also like to hear if anyone have the capacity to host the installer. If you happen to have that, then you are very welcome to use the contact form(to the left) to contact us.
GREAT!!!
How can it be gold when theres not so many that plays it
I'm not sure you know the meaning of Going Gold in Gaming Terms.
Hrm, I must've missed something..
Though the graphics look like good quality, they're nowhere near groundbreaking. Nightwatch, is groundbreaking. Poke646, was ground breaking. And unless I missed something in the gameplay: it may be fun but groundbreaking? No.
You know what a CEO does, right?
In all: I'm 100% for pimping one's mod but make your arguments based on truth and / or known facts. Now while this may be a quality mod, it isn't groundbreaking. The team, though without a doubt very talented is nowhere near acclaimed status on a world wide level. Perhaps in the Half-Life comunity, but not on a world wide level. This whole news post simply makes me not want to play the mod, simply because the excessive pimping makes me believe the team is trying to compensate for something.
Next time, please be a bit more modest.
... what SEThorian said.
:D
aff
the game rox :D
i can assure you
Yeah, I gotta say that mod teams trying to sound like major league professional game developers is one of my pet peeves. I am quite a hypocrite though, as I did exactly the same thing when I was starting on DrugWars.
This mod does look cool, but please, PLEASE, don't make such a fuss about it. Chief Executive Officer? Honestly.. Also, when you are the one writing the news post, there is no need to write it in the third person. It just makes people think you are insane.
Superfluous wording aside, good job on 1.5! You really did deserve that dedication award.
The above was ment as an ironic stab at all the BS all companies smack into their press releases.
We had some tough days without much sleep in thoose last days of soW 1.5 development. I was not exactly that well when writing it.
Without the above note it is of course impossible for others to know what I was thinking of when writing the post. Therefore the note has been added to thew newspost at our site. Furtermore I apologise for whatever unintended harm it may have done to SoW's image.
Ah, I see. In that case it's pretty well done mockery of game devs :)
