Rome: Total Realism is a complete modification for Rome: Total War developed by an international team of skilled individuals that now boasts a Phd level history researcher team which strives to bring you the most immersing, challenging and fun modification possible. We have come a long way since the early heydays of 2005, the team has also changed and grown too; but what remains the same is the desire to make our mod a truly engrossing experience. We are now working on our most adventurous modification yet, 7.0, and are soon to release our first faction preview. Check in with us regularly and be a part of changing gaming history.

Introducing your RTR 7.0 GFX Team.

Cum recte vivis, ne cures verba malorum

Ave all,
This is part two in the continuing series on the RTR 7.0 team, and I thought it would be appropriate to introduce you to the visual team that we have assembled.

In their own words…

Publius, GFX Team Leader:“I am a freshman in college, I am currently a graphics and classics double major (although the graphics major is more on my own - I have to 'build' a major as my university offers **** all for gfx classes. So really I do what I always have, teach myself).

I went to Valladolid, Spain for a weeks once - Sextus Octavius from the dev team I believe will also be traveling there, soon. Spain is a great place with a lot of culture - if anyone happens to be in the area I would suggest seeing: Segovia (Aqeuducts!), Salamanca (Cathedrals!), Madrid (The Capitol!), Avila (The walls, and pig ear soup!). Outside of that I've only been to Mazatlan, Mexico and various places in Canada. I used to live in California but moved to New York a few years back.

Favorite pastimes are running for my schools cross country team - there's nothing like an 8k to get the endorphins flowing - sleeping, socializing, and of course, modding!

My favourite musician is Bob Marley and the Wailers, although I listen to a lot of different things: Metallica, Moby, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Muse, Thievery Corporation, Filter, and a few others. When I mod I normally listen to Marley, Moby, or the Peppers though - very soothing.
I've worked on a lot of mod teams in my short life, although I can't remember ever being involved with such a dedicated bunch of guys as this. It's truly a pleasure working amidst the energy and enthusiasm the RTR 7 team brings to the table.”

Caius- “I suppose I'm part of the graphics team, no longer an unofficial member. So here’s my intro:
I'm sure most of you know me from my long standing ties with the community. My name is Chris and I live in Toronto (Canada) I recently graduated with a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering with a specialty in solid mechanics and machine design.
At the same time I'm an artist at heart and spent most of my life before university in a art room drawing and painting. When I joined RTR back in April of 2005 I originally was only a task monkey. As time went on I honed my skills and worked my way up the ladder of responsibility. Eventually I took the reins as project lead for the months of August and early September. I eventually passed the job to someone else and left the RTR team to focus on school. Eventually I missed working on textures and models and started my own mod "The Crusades." It took just over a year of hard work and was released in November of 2006. When I finished Crusades there was a empty space for me to fill. I had graduated and was still looking for a job so I returned to RTR to assist with 7.0's development. Outside of the RTW modding community I'm just your regular Canadian joe-shmo who loves hockey and plays curling (yes thats right the curling on ice with rocks). Go Leafs Go!”

Limes: The man is too busy will real life, at the moment, and he can update this later! Limes was a fundamental driving force in getting 7.0 back on track, and for that we are truly grateful. Apart from leading a very busy professional life, Limes has his own mod as well, and somehow manages to do all three with aplomb. Limes 3D models for us, and is an integral part of the team.

Elhoim: “Hello everybody, my name is Oscar and I´m 24 years old. I live in Argentina and came here by chance. I usually checked the forums to see if 7.0 was out, and one day Dark said that the main bottleneck was the GFX. As I had some experience in Photoshop and wanted the mod out ASAP, I decided to do something about it and offered my help, and well, here I am!

About my experience in modding and stuff, I made a mod for Civilization IV called Better Ship Scale, and I´m also part of the developer team of Oscuro´s Oblivion Overhaul. Furthermore, I´m also doing the GUI for Iron Tower indie RPG, Age of Decadence, and I´m beta testing an XP for a famous franchise (can´t talk about it, NDA and stuff ).

As for my personal life, I have a master degree in Human Resources, and I work as a HR consultant. I like football (my team is Boca Juniors) and also playing tennis. The games I like most are Rome: Total Realism (yeah, I like your mod more than the original), Civilization, Final Fantasy and deep RPGs, but I usually like a good FPS (yeah, I know I have schizofrenic tastes!). I live with my parents, have a cat and right now I´m single and without a girlfriend (more time for texturing and modding! )

Well, I think that´s all! ”

Antiochus: “My real name is Tim. Hate it but oh well.... military brat born in Lanstull Germany on 3/23/1986.moved every where from Alabama, Texas, Hawaii, Lousiana, and now in a little town in north Carolina named Kings Mountian.
I want to go to school(college) this year, take courses on graphics design, and computer stuff. i currently work at walmart, other wise known as hell, through and through . hmmn my hobbies? well lets see here, I enjoy military stuff, I have a vast collection of die cast tank models, aircraft models, and a small libary of military books, and a album of diffrent tanks and aircraft i have seen in my life.
I can tell you what almost any military uses what, and how many the have of them from tanks to jeeps I enjoy games on and off the computer, most notable Command and Conquer series, mega man series, final fantasy series, madden 07,and of course, the total war games.
The music I like is from a whole spectrum of things from remixed game music, to Lynrd skynrd, Jimi hendrix, Pink floyd, Coheed and Cambria, Disturbed, Godsmack, Metalica, Aqua bats, the list goes on and on.
I also enjoy anime, most notably, neon genesis evangelion, trigun, outlaw star, samurai champloo, full metal alchemist, but neon is my all time fav, I encourage you to watch it, and again, just to begin to begin to understand what the hell is going on lol.
Another hobby I have is fishing, and I also collect diecast cars, and legos haha I’m done!”

Kali: “Ok time to unmask ourselves is it,
I'm actually called Damon and whilst I've got some mixed and diverse blood, I'm basically English. My first degree was in Archaeology and Ancient History and my second was in Fine Art. So you can see why I'm interested in doing the GFX stuff for an Ancient RTS game. I also have a Masters degree in Art theory.
I run a small company. Presently we work for several galleries and institutions;- curating, project managing and installing exhibitions...this entails a lot of large scale fabrication and Audio Visual work as we specialize in New Media. In some cases its basically like TV set work. Unfortunately it can be very long hours and often through the weekend .
I began PC gaming about 7 years ago with Age of Empire, moved onto Cossacks and then discovered the TW series which has had me hooked ever since. The rest of my leisure time is spent either redeveloping the property I'm currently living in or socializing with a pint of good German lager in my hand.....or maybe the odd cocktail, glass of wine etc.
Musical tastes include a lot of reggae (particularly old school dance hall) old soul and funk, rare groove etc loads of sixties seventies psychedelic stuff and quite a lot of the 90's chemical beats (for want of a better term).
When i get time I also like to travel, the longer the trip the better. I've visited many countries in Europe, Asia and South America...and I'm planning a trip to Zanzibar next..
India is my favourite place I've been so far and I've made 3 visits. Hence the somewhat inappropriate name of Kali...The Hindu Goddess of war. I think she sometimes appears as a man....???
There's alot more I could warble on about and bore you all with but I think this little insight's enuff 4 now.”

Derricus- “I am 16 and currently attending highschool in North Carolina. Im active in
my Latin Class and I specialize in graphics (Banners, sigs, interface, and
other things). Ive wanted to work on with a group ever since I started
graphics. Ive been working on design for 3 years now coming on 4.
I enjoy Lacrosse, studying my geneology, long walks on the beach, and candle
lit dinners with a wholesome broad.I like to listen to all types of music it doesn't really matter. Techno, Grunge, Reggae, and Rap cause I go to a ghetto school. Some of my favourite
bands are The Prodigy, Juno Reactor, Nirvana, Lil' Wayne, Bob Marley,
Diplomats, Juelz Santana, Puddle of Mud, Soulja Boy, Alice in Chains, and
others.
As far as work is concerned, I have done alot of freelance stuff over the
past few years but nothing real structured. I have practiced alot and I am
never afraid to try and learn new things.”

Mephistophel: Brother to our talented historian Khshayathiya, Catalin is a highly talented artist and the latest addition to our GFX team. His work right now is…a secret.
“Hello! I'm Catalin, student at the University of Fine Arts in Bucharest in the 4th year, "Graphics" speciality.”

A couple more member’s information needs to be updated, and will be added in here later
Thanks for meeting the GFX team!

Salve,
MCM
