Rise of War: Unternehmen Barbarossa (Current project) is a singleplayer, full conversion, first person shooter modification for Half-Life 2. RoW:UH following a German squad through the Eastern Front of WWII. Rise of War will incorporate high doses of realism. Players can select as much equipment as they want before the mission, but the more they have, the heavier they are. Ironsights will be needed to see where you're aiming. As you get wounded you will move slower, have vision problems, not be able to hold you weapons steady, and then die. Players will have to learn their comrades' strengths and weaknesses in order to efficiently complete missions. Machine gunners are good against snipers, but bad against mortars; Snipers are good against most infantry, but can be easily killed by vehicles....

We should have more media on the way as or developers make more progress. The first release of RoW is scheduled in 2008. It will be called Rise of War: Fall of Normandy. It will be updated via patches with new content. We are looking forward to showing more of our progress in the near future.

No models were used on the church, as our modelers have been to busy with vehicles, weapons, and crap like that to work on normal props.

Nice map, it looks very detailed. Is that all brush work or some models too?

when you have media like the church which is all brush based, it looks nice if you lower the lightmaps so the shadows look crisper.

Nah! Source can easily handle that much brush work without a problem... in fact they could probably detail it more, as long as its optimised well.

That kind of brushwork has to be very expensive to the engine, and it probably makes vis take forever in the compile. When you go that much detail you should use model. But it looks really nice none the less.

The map didn't lag at all from what I've seen. We're waiting for someone to model things like damaged cars, furniture, etc. Until then, we won't show much of the map.
