Let me first reiterate that this is IN PROGRESS and does not represent a final product.
Now, I hardly ever post work in progress items because I believe in only showing products as they will be delivered. However, this particular endeavor is quite time consuming so before I go further, I want community feedback to help decide if it is worth the time. That said, let's clear one more thing up: This is not a shot in-game. This is a screenshot from Maya (3d application). So, textures look lower-rez, no normal maps, no lighting. Further, the texture is not finished. I'm hand painting this bad boy and yes, it's a total bitch to do.
I have not decided for which planet this will be.
The intention for this work is to use as a prop in space maps to simulate atmospheric engagements. The "playing field" will sit a bit lower than I have the camera now so you won't be flying between mountains but maybe a few hundred meters above.
Anyway, there you go. Feedback welcome... Is it worth the time to finish this and make others? Thoughts? Criticism? Death threats? Monetary donations?
