The goal of Resistance and Liberation is to realistically portray the events and actions taken by the 82nd Airborne during their stay in Normandy. Our initial release will follow the regiments through a campaign that mimics that followed by the men themselves. The campaign will begin with players dropping into Normandy in the early hours of June 6th, with the ultimate objective of capturing the town of Sainte-Mere-Eglise. From there subsiquent maps will include missions based on other key areas after the D-Day.

I'd like to inform everyone that Resistance and Liberation, an Unreal Tournament 2003 modification, has updated their site with several new pieces of eye candy. First of all our entire page has been re-worked and the forums expanded with more options than before. Secondly, we have a new promotional image featuring the German player model. Finally, the media page has been updated with tons of new renders of nearly every german weapon we're including in our first campaign.

Now I'd like to get into a few details of RnL. For our first public release we're going to include a campaign from the Cotentin Peninsula. You'll follow major actions of the 8th Infantry Division landing at Utah beach, to the actions of the 82nd airborne and their attack on Ste. Mere Eglise. The finale will include a major battle at the town of Cherbourg. As for gameplay, we'll include features such as iron-sight weapons, per-poly hit detection on players to increase the reality of the damage model, and an area capture system that will effect your reinforcments and spawn points.

There's a lot of hard work going into RnL, however we're still in need of a few good men. We currently have a strong need for a modeller who would be willing to mesh weapons and objects to prep them for skinning. With UT2k3's new approach to map making, 3d models and meshes have become a very large part of the creation process. Also, we're looking to expand our coding team. We need someone who is familiar with UT Script and is willing to explore the latest source once released. To incorporate many of our ideas, it will take a large amount of editing to get them working correctly.

To wrap things up, I want to invite everyone to our forums at www.playwithgun.com/resistance/forum and to our irc channel #resistancemod on irc.gamesnet.net. We looking forward to hearing from everyone and working for them to create a solid WW2 tactical sim.

The RnL Team.
