Bounce. Climb. Hook. Re:Mobilize is a Quake modification that introduces three new movement-based mechanics to the game, opening up devious new challenges to players and a whole new dimension of possibilities for level designers. Trampolines: Perform death-defying leaps of faith across even the most intimidating gaps and chasms. Wiremeshes: Nothing can stop you, not even gravity itself. More than just simple ladders, these surfaces let you move up, down, sideways, and even hang from ceilings. Lighthook and Lightpanels: The lighthook's purely photonic composition allows it to instantly latch onto any visible lightpanel, regardless of distance. You'll be hooked in no time - literally.

Re:Mobilize is an upcoming Quake modification that introduces three new movement-based mechanics to the game, opening up devious new challenges to players and a whole new dimension of possibilities for level designers. They are as follows:

  • Trampolines: Perform death-defying leaps of faith across even the most intimidating gaps and chasms.
  • Wiremeshes: Nothing can stop you, not even gravity itself. More than just simple ladders, these surfaces let you move up, down, sideways, and even hang from ceilings.
  • Lighthook and Lightpanels: The lighthook's purely photonic composition allows it to instantly latch onto any visible lightpanel, regardless of distance. You'll be hooked in no time - literally.

Re:Mobilize is also proudly built on top of the progs_dump 3.0 development kit by dumptruck_ds, including every single feature and entity from the mod, and, in addition to the three new movement mechanics, there are several all-new features for level designers to take advantage of, courtesy of Inky, creator of Church of the Unholy. These include trigger_enterleave, which can trigger events both on entering and exiting its volume; trigger_random, which lets you randomly fire off targets for more organic and life-like environments, and the Puzzle Items HUD, which lets you view any custom keys you have on-hand, at any time.

Re:Mobilize has been in development since December 2021, and over the course of 2022 and the first few months of this year a lot of progress has been made, in no small part thanks to the contributions and assistance of the community, particularly Inky who has helped significantly with developing, bug testing, and providing new features for the mod that would never have made it in otherwise, as well as all of the level designers and playtesters involved in development. We hope that when the mod finally releases that the community not only finds it enjoyable, but inspires level designers to come up with ideas that make use of the new mechanics to create challenging new maps and bring forth a paradigm shift in Quake mapping altogether.

That brush work is very praise worthy. Trenchbroom is such a nice editor, I'm only kind of sad that we left the era of simple maps at this point and everything needs to be complex to be taken seriously.
Even so, there is also atmosphere in the maps that I'm digging a lot.
