May 2019's Full Release of Version 6 of the Mod 'New Horizons'. Has been tested to run on multiple versions of windows, on multiple systems all the way up to Windows 10, including via LAN.
Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge: New Horizons
The New Horizons mod runs with Ares, which greatly improves upon and allows expansion of the original game. As of Version 6;
-Combat dynamics have been vastly overhauled, bringing together and fine tuning changes in Versions 4 and 5***. As such, units (land, sea, or air-based) treat structures more as 3D objects. This means that a building may for example act as an obstruction to a stray tank shell, or equally, can act as something for units to shelter behind (such as retreating wounded infantry). ***-> The unexpected consequences brought about initially by the vast overhaul have been fixed in Version 6, namely the problem where units sometimes trying to annihilate thin air (due to targeting issues).
-Firefights are much more varied thanks to the fine-tuning of the Specific Accuracy of all units, offering a far less predictable outcome in encounters between individual units, as well as unit groups. Some units may even get more accurate the longer they focus on a target.
-A variety of balances have been made to improve the gameplay.
-As usual, additional AI enhancements have been made. More specifically for this update; the AI may capture neutral buildings more intelligently, something that was lacking, and partially not available in the original game (the AI may now capture a greater variety of buildings also).
-In the previous release, I also included a 'hilarious new map'. This was of course the fictional island of CocknBallsia, a larger-than-life island modelled on-you-guessed-it; a giant cock and balls. I have included a follow-up map, featured as the 'Frozen CocknBallsia', with it's proportions suitably adapted.
As of Version 5;
-Flamethrowers are now able to fire over walls, but will still hit off (and burn) the sides of buildings, as in Version 4.
-All buildings now feature a level of Solidity; creating a more 3D-enhancement to the game, thanks to implementing the Ares feature. This means that many units may now be required to drive, walk, or even fly around structures in order to engage their targets. Equally, units may use buildings to hide behind as cover, or escape pursuing forces.
-CnCnet's ddraw; the customisable .ini file allows for the new (previously talked about) display settings, namely the Fullscreen 4:3 setting as standard (at the current expense of small menu screens, however this can be reset easily as explained in the latest New Horizons news).
-Some unit appearance changes (to improve team identification).
-A hilarious new map ;)
-Some AI enhancements.
As of Version 4;
-Major improvements in the air-to-air combat area, smoothing out the previously difficult-to-control encounters.
-Updated/overhauled several units looks, including the team colour paint visibility on some vehicles.
-Introduced specific accuracy to most bullet & shell firing weapons, so that firefights are more realistic, and more dynamic.
-Overhauled/expanded fire-based weapons and animations.
-Even more advancements in the AI (which was already Hugely expanded over the original game).
-Plus various other tweaks.
As of Version 3, All 4 of the game's Original campaigns are now Functional;

As of Version 1 of N.H., Save & Load Functionality has been restored through Ares.
As of Version 2 of N.H., both Yuri's Revenge campaigns were restored.
Notes: at the moment, Some AI teams take time to start full base production, but eventually they all do.
INSTRUCTIONS: save folder, sort files by 'type', then all 'applications' files select one by one, right click, go to properties, go to compatibility, and set to run compatibility mode for
Windows XP service pack 3, or preferably Windows 7 (But Not higher than 7 for technical issues related to Windows). Do this for all file type 'application', as well as 'Syringe'. Now Launch the game using 'RunAres' (you may want to create a shortcut on your desktop).
Also, you may need to allow/make exceptions on any security software you may have, that's it. Enjoy!
*I highly recommend reading my Detailed Installation article found in the 'Articles' Section at the top of this page, for comprehensive, easy to follow instructions*
LAN is functional (and awesome!), this has been tested on Windows systems as high as Windows 7 and 10! It may be necessary to change the serial number in the Regedit (computer's registry), and depending on the computer it may be necessary as a failsafe to install the original disk
to create that registry, though it may also just be a case of saving the folder in the game's original preferred folder. (this would need to be google'd)

Version 2 has been given various upgrades, primarily focusing on urban combat, such as implementing the recent Ares feature where garrisoned infantry can now be injured, even killed within a structure during a firefight. The level of destruction of a building differs greatly when trying to clear infantry out, depending on the weapon(s) brought against it; if a sniper fires upon a structure, minimal damage will occur to the building, while infantry will be far more likely killed first, whereas artillery will cause significant damage to the building, as well as a chance of killing it's occupants. Each building has it's own unique properties in this regard, taking into account it's structure, size,and materials; something that will be greatly expanded on in future releases. New Horizons has now been augmented with several new maps either created from scratch or modified by the mod's author, featuring extensive lighting enhancements such as active day-night cycles, and working street lights.
Some new maps include;
Superfortress; An 8-player map with, as the name suggests, a mountain-based super fortress, surrounded on all sides by potential hostiles.
Superfortress Co-op; An 8-player map with, as the name suggests, a mountain-based super fortress, surrounded on all sides by potential hostiles. This time with 2 teams being able to share the super fortress; perfect for cooperative play either with a friend via LAN, or a friendly AI team.
Mediterranean 2; An 8-player map encompassing nearly the entirety of continental Europe, centred on the Mediterranean Sea. Includes the northern shores of Africa, the east Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea, as well as the Baltic and Black Seas.
Frontline Town; An 8-player map with, featuring a unique 4 vs 4 layout spanning 2 landmasses connecting across the water via a strip of land hosting a much-contested frontline town.
