The story of Rebellion starts where the Vengeance one ended. You have won the battle over Gargantua but this last one had leave you in such a shape that even your mother would not recognize you. You have lost all of your weapons during the battle and you're are severely wounded. Nevertheless, some scientists who kept themselves away during your last fight are coming to give you first aid... They don't have the time to help you. A marines platoon arriving begins to shoot them down and one of the grunts puts a highly explosive satchel charge a few meters from you that cause the ground to collapse when exploding.

This was a pretty cool mod. There are both new and reskinned weapons. My biggest complaint about weapons is that most of the new ones had little to no reload animation (that's personally a thing for me). Nothing new with enemies, you basically fight military grunts the entire time. All spoken dialogue is in French, which made some of the more long-winded scenes (especially the intro), very dull for a non-French speaker. That's only with the plot. Mission specific dialogue, however, is translated (written) in English if you have the right patch. Puzzles were pretty difficult. You're given map stands in an open-world type area that label were everything is, but I couldn't orient myself very well due to Half-Life having no compass feature. It was also hard to predict that Barney was in the weapons shop. Lastly, the police station was literally a block away, but because there was a downed street light, you were required to escort Barney the idiot through the city slums in an unnecessarily long drudge of a detour where he will eagerly enter all combat and get his stupid butt killed very quickly. The ending was very satisfying, FYI. In the end, the mod is very well made, but has its annoyances.

This mod is brilliant. The level design is great and differs from an area to another which never gets dulls at all.

The voice acting is ok. (even if most people never understood it...)

The mod has a good length and can be rather challenging at times (This mod is swimming with grunts so beware).

The mod also has new realistic gun sounds and nice models (but the minigun model was just a reskin of the hornet gun which sucks for a minigun).

And lastly, the mod has some epic cutscenes especially the ending cutscenes it's so awesome better than the their other mod (Vengeance).

Anyone who is curious about this mod should totally check it out. :D

This is an improvement over the previous installment, the mapping is actually quite good but really doesn't come into its own until we reach the city, oh boy does that really feel like a city, at night with civilians its clear that it's not safe and a great staging ground for fire fights.
The first half of the mod was a bit like many other mods that I've played, it keeps the enemies many and has larger areas that require you to do quite a bit of fighting especially for the apache fight.
It knows to stay difficult which I appreciate.
The city area requires a bit of "lap dog" routine but thankfully taking in the sites makes it worth it, and we get a few surprises that grunts do fill the area when you don't expect it. We even get to rob a bank :)

+Fairly good level design to begin with, but the city stands out as unique and some beautiful views
+Some hard fights with grunts
+One really tough encounter with a tank that has to be wrecked once to smash its front part than once more for its top half
+2 set pieces in the first half of the mod, the bombs being dropped meant running for the bomb shelter, and the apache attack with the numerous grunts.
+Ending is satisfying
+A actual women...

-Weak translation
-Some weapons didn't have the proper fit into their new role, like the sniper rifle still having the slow moving crossbow arrows
-first half of the mod is kind of forgettable, as we go through a few bunkers.. the 2 set pieces stood out though.
-One area with the big open rocky area, to many grunts and bland looking.

This mod has some ugly bugs, and very dark sometimes, but it's still very interesting ;P
