The summary of this mod ?
Protoss = relatively small numbers + advanced tech;
Terrans = medium tech and medium numbers;
Zerg = low tech + huge numbers
As you can see the modification were done to be lore wise, even if the protoss have no planet crackers ingame, they still have some very advanced tech;
Ex : Protoss dragoon now has 100 damage and is very mobile, while terran siege tank does 60 damage while mobile, and 90 while in siege mod.
I have done the modification in such a way that the protoss are 1 tier more advanced than the terrans.
More examples : Protoss carrier has 1000 hp and 500 shields, and 7 armor(they now use shield tech to their full extend), while terran battlecruiser has 1000 hp and 0 shield, and 5 to armor.
Terran marine has 40 hp and 2 armor, while protoss marine has 40 hp, 30 shields and 4 to armor etc.
I made this mod for the sake of realism, and I also changed the portraits of the protoss because somehow they don"t seem right to me(the fact that they do not eat etc, changed them all to humans ;) )
- most protoss weapons do similar damage to terran weapons, the only diffference being that the protoss have better range for their weapons and a slightly better firing rate because of better weapon stability(they are slower when it comes to overheating);
- the protoss have made it such that their shields are used to make more economical buildings, airships, units due to the fact that their materials are more resistant to terran ones, meaning that the protoss will have more armor than terran units and buildings;
- all protoss buildings are now cloakable by the arbiter;
than terran counterparts, but their own shields are equal or stronger than their hitpoints(ex: terran siege tank = 300hp and 4 armor, while a protoss dragoon = 150hp, 100 shields and 5 to armor, goliath has 200hp and 4 to armor),
-the protoss are not invulnerable for having better tech, they are simply harder to defeat;
- because the protoss have advanced technologies they developed complex self-repair technologies, meaning that all units and buildings for the protoss have regeneration;- since protoss have very advanced technology they do not use vespene gas as a source of energy, they just use hydrogen(translation : they just need minerals)
-in order to balance things out, I made it so protoss require more supply than other units, making them more scarce(ex:terran goliath= 2 supply, protoss dragoon= 3 supply)
- a terran nuke is now much stronger ;
- since terran marines have mechanical armor I have set them to "mechanical", meaning that they can be both healed and repaired by an scv and/or terran medic;
- terran ghosts now use lasers instead or bullets and have 30 hp;
- protoss scouts only use photon blasters due to the fact that they are faster than missiles;
- terran battlecruisers are now very powerful, they no longer use some lasers to attack ground units, instead they bombard them with rockets;
- protoss no longer use polluting gas, they have developed technology which makes use of other sources of energy(like hydrogen), so they only need minerals;
- the zealot model was removed for a marine model, meaning that all their men are no longer suicidal with close combat weapons as they want to preserve their somewhat small numbers;
- dragoon was given damage similar to the terran siege tank, and with a minimum range, it can also friendly fire due to the fact that it"s damage is now AEO, a protoss version of a tank, but with more mobility
since it does not require a "siege mode" in order to do the same ammount of damage;
- unit/building production/construction costs were made somewhat according to the ammount of hp and armor they have(protoss dragoon has 150hp, 5 armor, so it"s cost is 200)
-the speed of protoss production is now bigger compared to other races due to the fact that they use warp technologies to bring them in;
- since zerg are basically just animals( I don"t like the idea of organisms having stronger natural weapons than a mech or a tanks) I made them much cheaper and they now consume less supply, now they are just like in the lore, they attack you by the dozens;
- buildings have lower hitpoints but have much more armor, they are also more expensive to make protecting buildings a priority, plus that it"S normal for a building to be more expensive than a unit;
- since protoss use shield technology they have made it so that they use shields to double the resistance of their buildings, and since their engineering is better => nexus has 400 shield, 400 hp and 12 armor, while the terran command center = 400 hp and 10 armor);
- zerg can now build an overmind for increased supply (70 supply);
- instead of some suicidal humans the infested terrans now have a glaive worm attack, making them look like infested ninja"s;
- the dark templar and high templar graphics were replaced with the ghost ones, to look more cool/human and realistic, now it"s more interesting to see dark templars(humans) with advanced cloaking technologies making them permanently invisible;
The reason for these modification I made is to not only make the units more realistic(made terran marines more resistant due to having power armor, gave them terran ghost voices to make them look more professional)
If you want to use the mod for the original campaign just don"t use the Mod file, it only changes commands and grants certain units some abillites(like flash grenade to ghost)
