RCOM or 'Realistic' 'Combat' 'Overhaul' 'Mod' is a mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Call of Pripyat that aims to bring in a greater emphasis on realism. After years of no development, I have returned to release a new version of RCOM as an addom to "Call of Chernobyl"

Just installed the Mod and patched, but the menu's seem all screwed up. I read a previous comment about trying to change the Texture options, but I can't even see most of the options. I'll post pictures, just tell me what you need.

I have heard of this bug before, even before RCOM was out, and RCOM v.1.0.6 doesn't change the menu at all, so its probably a vanilla bug. A picture would be great if you could post it. You also should be able to change the texture options via the user.ltx file, which should be located in your documents under a STALKER Call of Pripyat folder.

I figure maybe uninstalling everything and trying again would be the best course, since there seems to be nothing about this particular problem floating around anywhere.

Hmmmm. Are you on a x86 or x64 operating system?

Are you using the same user.ltx that worked before, other than the 4 values you're supposed to enter via the RCOM install instructions?

Are you using the STEAM version?

Also, try looking on the GSC forums. Those are the offically forums, and if you search through the bugs sub-forum, I believe this was a common problem from back when the game was first released.

x86

Yep, same one.

Yeah. Think that could be a problem?

And I'll look on their forums. Hopefully I'm not the only one with this problem now.

I don't want to claim that this has nothing to do with RCOM, but it does seem unlikely considering I didn't mess with anything involving the menu alignments. Hopefully you find the answer. Sometimes STEAM gets weird about suddenly thinking the user.ltx file isn't valid anymore, so maybe it has something to do with that.

Crashes are much easier for me to recognize because the crash reports, but this is tough for me to know the cause. I have heard that x86 systems limit the texture detail, but if its your original user.ltx then they shouldn't have gotten changed.

I'm sorry to say, but the problem seems to stem from something in the gamedata folder. I made a fresh install, and the problem still persisted. So, I decided to delete the gamedata folder and, to my surprise, the menu's were fixed. I have no idea what inside the gamedata folder caused it, since I just deleted the whole thing. But I'll try to find the source if and when I can.

Well, I'm curious to hear if you find a fix since the problem occurs with RCOM specifically. Something similar happened to me using a CS mod, and simply changing the texture slider to max fixed it (somehow it got lower with out me knowing it).

Are you widescreen or 4:3, and if widescreen what aspect ratio?

EDIT: Also, what resolution are you running at? I'm pretty sure I can squash this bug pretty quick if I know the information I asked for. :)
