RCOM or 'Realistic' 'Combat' 'Overhaul' 'Mod' is a mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Call of Pripyat that aims to bring in a greater emphasis on realism. After years of no development, I have returned to release a new version of RCOM as an addom to "Call of Chernobyl"

So, I've been toying around with the idea for a while now. Real world military grade body armour often has pouches to insert additional armour plates, which is required to stop heavier calibres. These plates are often made of ceramics, which can be very effective at stopping rifle bullets but breaks after relatively few subsequent impacts.

Could it be possible to implement something like this in RCOM? Plates could work like "attachments" to the armor, or go in slots similar to artifact slots. They would add durability to the suit and bullet protection, while degrading with use. I have yet to see anything like this in a STALKER mod, so it would be at least original. And of course, it would go very well with the theme of RCOM.

Video showing the resilience of armour plates to small rifle calibers. Mid-priced suits should allow for one plate to be worn at one time, high end suits should allow for multiple plates for a better all-around coverage. Of course weight and their cost would be issues to be taken into account.
