Step back into 1996 with a new challenge in this reimagining of Quake.
This rebalance touches up on almost every aspect of the original Quake with the goal of giving more power to both the player and monsters. Quake tends to be a more contentious game in the id line up given its spongy enemies and notoriously weak weapons. This mod seeks to adjust many of those issues and breathe some new life into the game. Included in the file is a full changelog, but to cover some of the highlights:
- Weapons have been beefed up and given a stronger identity. Shotguns feel more powerful, the nailguns have been given more personality, launchers aren't as overpowered, and the Thundergun has been reworked to better fit the role as the game's BFG weapon.
- Items have been tweaked to account for the player's new power. A stronger emphasis has been put on the player themselves as opposed to the power ups they pick up, giving a better sense of agency.
- Monsters are much more intelligent now, using new tactics to fight the player and prevent infighting. Tons of bugs have been fixed making them a larger threat in combat.
- Nightmare has seen various changes to keep the spirit of id's original while now standing as the definitive hardest way to play the game.
This mod is based entirely on the original Quake C source code so it should work on almost any source port you throw at it. Verified to work with Quakespasm (Spiked) and vkQuake. Compatible with certain custom maps.
To install, locate the directory where your Quake executable is and extract the reignited folder into it. From here you have two options:
- Launch the game. Open the console and type game reignited and hit enter. The game should appear to reload.
- Create a shortcut for your Quake executable. Right click the shortcut to enter the Properties menu. At the end of the Target field add a space and -game reignited to automatically launch the game with Quake Reignited loaded.
In both cases you'll know it worked if the shotgun is firing projectiles instead of a hitscan attack.
does it have support for mission pack 1 and 2
