Q3knockOut changes your Quake experience in a very unique way: Scoring is not done by directly hit and kill your enemy, but by pushing him out of the area into the void or other deadly spots in a map like lava and such. Q3knockOut comes with new weapon and item behaviours, a very fast gameplay, new ways for cool jumps and moves. As maps you should only use very open ones like the space maps. All standard gametypes are supported: Deathmatch, Team-Deathmatch, Tournament and Capture The Flag. Q3knockOut is a server side only modification.
I really don't understand the lukewarm reception for this mod. Let me put it this way: This is basically Quake meets Smash Bros. Whats not to like? It's fast, it's crazy, it's fun. Don't try to play this like a normal Quake game, there are subtleties that makes this mod extra awesome. This mod does things to balance things out, such as:
-You start off with a bunch of weapons and most of the items are replaced with ammo pickups.
-the powerful weapons have very little ammo to start with.
-The BFG spawns where the rail would be except its only got one round, so make it count.
-the shield powerup now saves you from falling into the void by teleporting you to a safe place :)...the list goes on
Bassically, learn the mechanics, don't play on a stage that does not have a lot of bottomless pits (in short, play on the space maps), play on teams!(way more fun, but you will need to modify the game to allow for space maps in team deathmatch, or download other space maps that is team compatible), and finally...ROCKET JUMP A LOT, you will not die from anything that isn't falling off of a map.

This mod is a truly unique experience and perfectly manages to bring new and completely different, useful and entertaining elements to the gameplay!
The goal to push players/bots out to the void (or to the "wrong place" C:) is exactly what I had been searching for before I found this mod!
This is a very fun mod, crazy. I love it !
I'ts entretained. Not for the taste of everybody, buth if you are looking for something different, this is your mod.
An opinnion: this is awesome on a q3dm17 ffa match.
