Pulse is a MOD for Half-Life 1. Pulse takes place in Black Mesa after the incident. You are famous scientist Gordon Freeman. In the beginning of Pulse, you are in Surface Lab A Security Complex, a lab and security station on the absolute surface of the Black Mesa Research Facility. You are working with your scientist pals when one scientist working with a hazardous radiation meter detects high radiation amounts coming from all over. They radio into the Administrator's office, the office of Dr. Wallace Breen. Instead of Breen answering, they pick up a remote conversation between Breen and an unknown voice. "It's done," Breen said. "The xenian crystal triggered a dementional rift between Earth and the boarderworld Xen. Now let's get to the surface!" "I'm sure my employers will be pleased," says the unknown voice, and then silence fills the room followed by an explosion. The other scientists are amazed that the Administrator of Black Mesa...

Since I want you to understand that this is not a regular ordinary Half-Life 1 Modification, I'm going to give you some statistics on Pulse that will make you feel that way.

First off, Pulse will be as long, if not longer than Half-Life 1 itself. It will feature some new and original uses for entities in Half-Life that the original game never used. What are these new uses, you might ask? Well, how about using a func_tracktrain not for just a train but for driving a car? Pretty cool. We also have some new custom features like new sliding doors and new models. May noy seem like a lot but you'll be pretty amazed at what else lies further in the Black Mesa Research Facility, according to Pulse. You take a short trip through the previously unseen Gamma Complex in Sector G while trying to escape from the Lambda Complex to the surface after retrieving Breen's Administrative Operations profile. Another new area explored is the Black Mesa fitness Training Facility. It's like a giant Ballys in Black Mesa. Really cool stuff.

So, as you can see, there are many new things to Pulse that Half-Life didn't take advantage of. Did I mention new weapons? Well, this early on in development, we don't have any new weapons added to the game yet, but you should surely see some new weapons in Pulse by the game's release in around or after Spring of 2008. If you look at our maps that we use in our mod, you might be amazed at how Valve-like these maps look. We try to make the maps look exactly like your in Black Mesa. We want you to feel the full effect of being in Black Mesa. One way that we aren't like Valve, however, is that we won't push back our estimated release date 500 times. Maybe once or twice, but as things stand, Pulse should be up for download in late Spring of next year.

So, if you were saying, "Who wants to play a mod for an outdated game like Half-Life 1," maybe you'll think again! But, really, this mod is for you Half-Life 1 maniacs who still love it's original gameplay and still love good ol' Black Mesa even almost 10 years after its release. And, of course, we welcome everyone to come and enjoy our mod Pulse.
