Pulse is a MOD for Half-Life 1. Pulse takes place in Black Mesa after the incident. You are famous scientist Gordon Freeman. In the beginning of Pulse, you are in Surface Lab A Security Complex, a lab and security station on the absolute surface of the Black Mesa Research Facility. You are working with your scientist pals when one scientist working with a hazardous radiation meter detects high radiation amounts coming from all over. They radio into the Administrator's office, the office of Dr. Wallace Breen. Instead of Breen answering, they pick up a remote conversation between Breen and an unknown voice. "It's done," Breen said. "The xenian crystal triggered a dementional rift between Earth and the boarderworld Xen. Now let's get to the surface!" "I'm sure my employers will be pleased," says the unknown voice, and then silence fills the room followed by an explosion. The other scientists are amazed that the Administrator of Black Mesa...

It is time for Pulse's monthly news update! However, there might be some bad news here for some people.

Hello, Pulse fans! It is now time for our January update.

I'd like to start off first by saying that we've been working more on Pulse's website and media updates lately more than we've been modding for Pulse. However, we are going to get back into the spirit of modding in February. Our goal next month is to create two new single player maps (maybe three). We currently have 23 maps made for Pulse and we're aiming for 50 or more by the time Pulse is released. Although it is a Half-Life 1 MOD, it is still going to be good.

Over this month, I actually went back through each and every map in Pulse and made a list of every problem that I could think of. So, once I finished the long list - trust me, it was long - I went to work. Now, a lot of the screenshots in Pulse's media are now not accurate due to the fact that we have enhanced much of Pulse's previous maps. We are also working with new concepts in our newer maps like new entities and gameplay and carrying them over to our edits in the previous maps, as well. We think we are making a lot of progress.

We have also added some songs to certain levels of Pulse that we see it fit. It's looking good and we can guarantee you some eerie areas of this MOD where you will encounter zombies and freaky music in a dark, cramped space. It's always a favorite. We are also working on some concepts for future maps that will take place in the mountain ranges just outside the Black Mesa Research Facility. We have found a good program to help us create mountainous terrain and we are still working on concepts for those upcoming areas of Pulse.

Now, here comes the bad news. Since I am a one-man-mod team with a busy schedule this spring, I am going to have to act like Valve and push Pulse's anticipated release date back farther away. Since I will have much more time to develop Pulse during the summer and I want to make it as good of a product as I can, I am now changing the estimated release date of Pulse to August or September of 2008. I'm sorry about this, guys, but I have to do it. There's no way I could release Pulse in full by the end of this Spring. I could release two episodes of Pulse to cut the waiting time in half and I could release episode one of Pulse 1 next month, but there are still some edits that I want to make to previous maps so chances of having an episodic release of Pulse are slim. However, if you guys want me to release what I have of Pulse done so far as Episode One, please let me know. I might do it.

So, that's our January news update! We hope you all enjoyed it and have a good February!
