Does this also mean the game is no longer broken (see: I.imgur.com) when played at 2560x1440?

It's difficult to say for now, but the HUD will definitely be less stretched. And I think this issue you have is related to shaders, try to remove your cache and see what happens^^

Description

The HUD is finally adjusted to fit 16:9 screen ratio. What is more, widescreen option can be toggled in the Unlocker tool in case you don't like it.

With this update, the HUD looks as it was intended to look like - minimap is square and resupply/healing indicator - perfectly round. In the past, both Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142 were designed in times, when the majority of monitors had square screens.
