nice, i would have chosen the original pallet town from the 1st gen, but for what it is, it looks good.

How does it differ?

Outside of texture upgrades the map remained the same. 1st gen 2nd gen it's the same. so I'm not sure what you're talking about preferring one over the other.

sorry should have gone under Killi101's statement not Dr.Woop's

its completly different looking (probably due to colour) but i have the original gameboy colour and pokemon red, it looks different to me but also this mod is based on 1st gen so it would be fitting to go for it.

I am just baffled as to what is different from the first gen!
Totalpokemon.com

Besides colour, it's identical as far as I can see. :P

Lol is this XSI? Why do you use it for mapping purposes? xD

Why not? xD

I'm only doing some shapes for our coder to work with, AFAIK it's far easier in XSI then any map editor :P

Of course, but it might be problematic when you want to get it ingame, you know lighting and the other stuff... You'd better make it brush-based

Oh yes absolutely.
It's purely brushes (& textures soon)
Since XSI's got some nice exporters it's just the most convenient way to make it.

I think the .xsi format is pretty much just plain text vertex coordinates. shouldn't be hard to turn those into brushes.

If you're talking about hammer brushes;
XSI's got a .vmf exporter. You just do that and it's all ready to be opened in hammer.

what purpose will this have? is it the "spawn" or starting point? is this where you get your first pokemon?

I don't see why I would use 3dsmax though.
XSI's much more convenient for Source + that's what I'm used to.

Dont know it, but I seen making a map to Source by using 3ds Max to make details, then export it to Hammer (or something like that) and then put it in-game.

We understand that V.metalic its just that not everyone can afford 3ds Max (and some of us respect companies and don't torrent every thing) plus this person is more comfortable with XSI so they decided to use that

Nah 3dsmax is too complex to make things like cities, i use it and if i wanted to make a city/buildings then its Google Sketch up FTW! i would never use xsi... i couldnt even get a box in it, too hard for me to bother with. but Dr.Whoop... that model looks really good, when i saw it i thought it was sketch-up.
