After a long, bloody war in the Sudan, the governments of the United States and Russia struck an uneasy cease-fire over the fate of Africa and its burgeoning industry. This peace would be short lived, for to the north a new conflict was brewing. Ukraine, a former satellite state of the Soviet Union, sought to gain back the power from which it once reveled in. As the snow fell in a heavy midwinter storm, Ukrainian troops moved towards the border of Belarus. Without warning, Ukrainian troops attacked with a speed and effectiveness not seen since the Blitzkrieg of WWII.

It’s time to post our weekly news update and we have a few exciting things to discuss.

On Saturday at 1:00 pm est the Moddb.com website will be announcing the Mod of the Year awards via the Electronic Gaming Live Network (EGLN) community. We are inviting our users to participate by joining the #egln IRC channel via the Gamesurge Network and listen in via their audio webcast. EGLN’s announcer Bluewolf72 and Moddb.com founder INtense will be announcers for this award ceremony. Moddb.com is the main community that reports on all game mods that are produced. To be considered for a Mod of the Year award is a great accomplishment,
so stay tuned for the results this Saturday to see what games are represented and what mod teams are awarded. To listen to the audio stream just head over to EGLN.net and click on the stream link. Both Windows Media Player and WinAmp are the supported audio applications.

Back in December we were contacted by Tim Edwards of PC Gamer UK for a possible feature interview. He came across our mod via the Moddb.com website and noticed our weekly news posts. His feature was released a couple of weeks ago and is edition #157 of PC Gamer UK. The team is honored to be included in the magazine and appreciate Tim and his staff’s support. Seigman from our staff was able to use his Digital camera to take snapshots of the article and the cover of the magazine for your viewing pleasure below:

One thing that we would like to point out to our community is the hard work that Jilted has provided to our level designers. Jilted is our main static modeler/skinner. For our first release he has created 40 buildings of which about half of them are enterable. Besides that he has created 58 other types of static’s. So when we provide screenshots of our different maps that are being developed think of Jilted and all of his hard work! This week’s news is dedicated to our armor fans. We’ll begin by showing the 125mm T-84 Oplot Ukrainian Main Battle Tank. The Oplot main battle tank is the result of continued main battle tank development by the Kharkiv Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau, which is Ukraine's leading design authority for armored fighting vehicles.

The model was developed by D_Fast
and Spitfire designed the skin for this armored beast.

One more armored vehicle for this week’s news post. For those that enjoy engaging infantry in your armored vehicle we are sure you will have a great time with this vehicle.

Credit for coding the Marder 1A5 goes to Seigman
who worked hard to get this vehicle in game.

Thanks go to our Testers who helped SgtWedge take the following screenshots.
We wanted to provide group photos of the G-36 & MP-7 weapons being in game.
Notice the different variants being carried.

The team decided to pick The main Battlefield:2 site in Finland as the community of the week.
Yonzzu continues to do a great job keeping the Finnish Battlefield:2 community informed about Point of Existence, and we appreciate their support.
