The Perfect Dark mod is a UT modification based on Perfect Dark (N64). The basic premise is to combine the style and power of UT with the massive content of Perfect Dark, while at the same time improving upon PD's blatant errors (i.e., slow, cumbersome movement) and maybe adding (optional) new features. While the PD weapons will be, for the most part, true to the originals, some allowances must be made. For example, UT has no built in "Action" button (for opening doors, reloading, etc.) so this functionality must be built in using similar effects. The maps are true to the original, as much as can be, but cannot be perfect renditions. Some scaling issues have been uncovered in certain maps, as well as some questions of physical feasability. All in all, the maps are accurate representations of what once was... Movement speeds and accelerations are not quite addressed yet. Any Perfect Dark fan can tell you that you moved faster when strafing instead of just walking forward....

Greetings.

I have eaten my own words often enough, and now I eat them again, for the good of both the mod and myself.

What I am referring to is the list of "abandoners" in the readme file of the latest release, BetaV1A2. As awkward as it is for me to say this, it has to be said:

Chromius did not abandon the mod. His situation could not have happened at a worse time, for him or the mod. What happened was a completely unpredictable event. In short, his computer crashed, his ISP ditched him, and it took close to 5 months to sort out. And what did I take it as? Abandonment. There was no explanation, no contact whatsoever, until now. And now....I have heard, and I retract my statement about Chromius abandoning the team. The retraction will formally appear in the readme of the next release.

However, even though this has been a horrible turn of events for Chromius, he has again offered his coding services to the mod. And....as the mod leader, I accept his offer, and I hope that we will see many releases and eventually, completion.

Additionally, there are more changes in the team lineup. Because of equipmental difficulties, kdark1701 (the sound technician) will be unable to aid the mod for some time. He has informed me, however, that he wishes to reenter the mod team as soon as he is able. In his place, Razoran has joined the team.

So....welcome to both of you!
