Long ago, when the word 'Hiigara' rang only as a hollow dream, the kiith of Kharak never imagined they would walk the Path to Victory. But, when they reclaimed their Homeworld and proclaimed themselves 'Hiigaran', they believed they had reached their goal. How wrong they were. 150 years after Hiigaran landfall, conflict rages across the Galaxy... Path to Victory is a multiplayer and skirmish mod for Homeworld 2 that adds new units to both Vaygr and Hiigaran Races as well as enabling the Keepers, Raiders and Kadeshi as playable races.

does "...making a frequent replacement of critical parts essential to keep these weapons firing.: mean that It's gonna be a subsystem that is build on every single interceptor/gun ship??

P.S. you're missing the "r" in inteRceptor paragraph 3, line 5.

That is simply lore wise. It has no effect on gameplay.

I'm really following this mod for the lore and fluff, the history behind it is really entertaining.

Haha, same here. I'm going to try replaying it though since I don't believe I gave it a fair trial.

Try to avoid playing the last version and keep your curiosity for the coming release. The wait will be worth it.

So, energy cannons? Always missed them in HW2.

Nice screenshot, also interceptor in dogfight with swarmer looks good.

Some questions:
Will they be slow but guided as in Cata?
On image fighter is already firing next shot or it is weapon's muzzle flash?
*confused* Single ships?

1) I believe they will be unguided, fast (and thus accurate) single-shot weapons. MoLoLu will be able to confirm this.
2) Again, MoLoLu will be able to confirm this, but I think that's just the muzzle flash.
3) The squadrons in Path to Victory break up from formation in a dogfight. It's more realistic, and adds to the chaotic environment that is characteristic of Path to Victory.

Does muzzle flash mean the light which comes when you fire?
Otherwise I do not know what muzzle flash is.

Thats what the muzzle flash is it's the effect that weapon makes when it is shot off.

They are not exactly guided but have an unnaturally high accuracy rating (~95%). Their speed is relatively slow but somewhat faster than in cata.

Don't know if this is the shot being fired or the one behind it. At any rate, pausing the game makes these projectiles jump 'out of place'. The projectile is actually much closer to the interceptor than it looks.

Please have an optional capital ship version.

Problem with that is that it'll make the Hiigs very OP. Balance wise, it's a no go.

Description

Originally developed by the Taiidan Empire during the Beast Wars, the Energy Cannon was heralded as the ultimate evolution of weapons technology, designed to replace projectile based weapons. However the cost and maintenance required to keep such a weapon system running quickly led to the Hiigarans - and later the Empire - adopting kinetic weapons as their primary armament.

Still, Kiith Somtaaw has not stopped developing and emplying these deadly plasma-based weapons. Used primarily on their Acolyte Fighters, the Energy Cannon is adaptable enough to be mounted in either Hiigaran Gunships or Interceptors, gifting these ships with incredibly accurate and powerful single-target damage though sacrificing rate of fire for this reward.

One drawback of the Energy Cannon which KIith Somtaaw has not yet been able to overcome is the high maintenance costs for these weapons - caused mainly by the heat generated when these weapons fire, making a frequent replacement of critical parts essential to keep these weapons firing.
