A soldier with a cap in the German military was called a Volksgrenadier, or a "recruit grenadier." Soldiers with helmets or officers caps were veteran Grenadiers or of higher ranking.

I agree, i love the history of World War 2, i love the uniforms, Weapons, Events, it's sad that it happends, but its HISTORY, that's tottaly EPic :)
