Operation Market Garden (OMG) is a persistent multiplayer only modification based off the award winning real time strategy game Company of Heroes. We put a strong emphasis on balance, community, transparency, and fun. Currently in an open Beta, we are constantly improving, adding new OMG features and content. Through our website the player tailors their company, customizing it to fit their play style and needs. Through our simple and easy to use launcher they join battle with their teammates against the enemy. There's no in game resource management, no base building, and no gimmicks. It's just pure combat, building on the already superb platform of Company of Heroes, and it's pure fun. Win or lose, your surviving units stick with you throughout your battles. The war persists, your troops persist, and its all at tip of your fingers.

Morning All,
Draygon here with this weeks dev update. This past week has been a very eventful one for Operation Market Garden. Many great things happened...so here we go! (click to open the full msg here : Omgmod.com ) as it is not displaying the full thing once again...damn the big updates :)

Website / Backend

Well if you haven't already noticed there is a donate button up at the top of the tool bar. There is also a graphical representation on the left hand side that shows where we stand for each month. Some of you are probably wondering what could donations be for since we dont have a mod out currently? The answer is that any donations we get right not are covering our "dark costs," these are costs that cover all of the things you currently see: The website, Vent server, any expense that we incur to get the mod up and running. We expect to have a huge player influx when we release the full mod, as an example of what future costs we may have to cover, a 100 man server runs around $240 for a year. Once we cover all of our costs we have plans to start awarding prizes to players during the campaign and other challenges that we will come up with. So if you like what you see so far, and want to support the future, feel free to donate whatever you can.

Coding

The biggest achievement hit this week was the SCAR code. Cozmo has worked his butt off to get things back to where it was prior to the losing of the code. He has done it, and infact we have a WORKING Alpha out! It is in the early stages, we have found and fixed many bugs but it will take some time to get it smoothed out. We still have to get the doctrines in and working. Cozmo is on vacation for the next week or so, which will give us plenty of time to have a long list of bugs for him to fix :).

Gary as worked at fixing some of the errors that have been found with the generation of the battlefile to smooth that out, obviously you cant play a game without having the battlefile :) he has fixed every problem so far in a very short amount of time. Mike has been working on the revamp of our Doctrine Abilities, hasn't shown us the current state of it thus far, but has let me know that he has been working on it (as well as getting over the flu).

I have been busy working on the database, this week I fixed many problems with the WarCP, added in some more Icons that were missing. I also got the first Axis doctrine put into the database (Defensive). Theta has given me the completed Armor doctrine so I will be getting that in this coming week.

Last week Andy showed you a few of the upgrades (and if you haven't clicked the "sneak peek of OMG" link on the left hand side on the frontpage; below is current icons for all of the upgrades we have. There will be more when the other doctrines are finished and I will get those added as I create them (and Doombringer gets the icon made ).
