One Light in the Darkness is a high-quality custom story for Amnesia: The Dark Descent. The player takes on the role of Silas Joel Farran, a struggling writer who stumbles upon a mysterious and unsettling note of farewell, authored by the researcher who went missing months ago, Dr. Dale H. Shaw. The note suggests Shaw had been studying the history of a supposedly abandoned castle once owned by Baron Liam Bloodgood at the time of his disappearance. Such an adventure through the castle and a search for clues to Shaw's disappearance make for a thrilling novel....but Farran gets more than he bargained for...

One of the best mods I've played lately.
Thank you for such high-quality work.
The dark atmosphere is just on top!

This was not worthy of a total conversion. First of all, the custom story version seemed to be broken. Everything was going fine up until the sewer section. I was in the room where the guardian spawns, and then I ran into the wheel, because the door closed when i took out the wrong rod, I ran into it and... the wheel glitched off, lol. I ran into it for about three minutes and it fixed itself at last after getting killed over and over by the water monster. I couldn't pick up the plank of wood, so i went ahead and entered the next load zone. Aaaaand the game crashed. Okay, let's try the total conversion instead, so up to where we left off, the trinity rod in the conversion had its icon replaced with the entire texture sheet for some reason, lol, anyways, everything was going pretty smoothly, although, what the hell happened during development at this point?! It feels like it was HEAVILY unfinished and that there was supposed to be a lot more to this story, and that the author just decided to rush it and leave it unfinished from its true potential. Granted, it's still beatable. After running through a lot of rooms with "Daniels" improved running speed, albeit a lot more slippery, and carrying around pointless objects, like the plank of wood for example, we enter the cellar section. This is where the unfinished product, REALLY shows. Lots of pointless rooms, some spawn grunts for some reason... There's some bad placements, like a pipe clipping into another pipe, floating rocks, empty rooms, improper doors (which is just rookie map design really when the doors don't stay open) oh and, Daniel wrote a blank journal entry when he entered this place btw, it's like he got bored and said "Eh, **** being a writer" but obviously this is the developer speaking here. So, after searching around for a bit, wondering if I needed to collect a lot of things to progress, I noticed the hatch... You go through... fall down... aaaand the story abruptly ends with the dude dying. Very disappointing. Some cool features, some not even finished, a broken custom_story converison and relatively short. Not recommended, real shame.

Doesnt deserve the high rating. The custom story was just like it was abandoned when it got interesting.

Incredibly well made. Everything about this from the story to great voice acting to the interesting puzzles, and not to mention solid atmosphere, was fantastic. It was really short though

More people should recognize this mod because really is great

really good would have given a ten if it was a bit longer. The atmosphere and story were very well done and i also liked the level design.

Definitely a good mod to check out

Very good. I like how you have to interact with the library key. I would like to see more from palistov.

This was very good and scary :)
Only few small bugs you might want to fix:
The library corridor key was bugged (see it right in the beginning of this video: Youtube.com
I also had two lanterns (no idea how that happened).
After leaving the sewers and went outside, I could go back and see the cut portions of the map.
When the grunt killed me, I saw a death hint "keep your feet dry".
Text of note "Into the darkness again" was empty, was it intentional?
In the room after you climb from the T-shaped hole, the walls next to doorway were half-transparent.
