Nightstalker's Universe Mod has been in the works for 9 years, the mod itself has gone though many incarnations including being rewritten several times. The concept of NSU is to give SciFi junkies what they are looking for. There are several sections of the mod dedicated to different SciFi Shows such as, BSG, Star Trek, Babylon 5, Firefly, and Star Wars. There are several sections of the mod that come from different ideas I have come up with and each system is uniquely different with custom suns, starspheres, and a few planets. The Mod has a lot to offer for a wide range of players. At the start you are given 5 choices though the use of one way jump holes (one in ST, SW, B5, Nightstalker Space, Terran Alliance Space). There are also 4 unique Factions in the mod, including Rogue Asteroids, Comets, Derelicts (Moving wrecks), and monsters (They hurt too). There is an update coming but I do not have a date as of yet for release.

This is a patched version of the 1.66 Final release. I will post here when this is live on the server (Probably between 20:00 and 23:00 PST)
This is now live on the server. If you have the old version of the mod go to Galacticgate.com to get that.

Very nice!
Do i need to do a fresh install.
Also would using an FL ID changer work.
In otherwords, when i install this, i will still have
my ships from 1.66
Fly Safe
No, you do not need to do a fresh install. You should still have your ships and FL ID Changer does work, just make sure you save your ids
Doesn't work on SP....
what a pity....
I cannot use this mod for some reason. I downloaded and extracted the files, but when I went to use them, I recieved a error message that said something about a missing component called a DACOM.DLL. Has anyone else had this problem? I can't seem to find this file.
The mod requires the original Freelancer. dacom.dll is in the normal install of FL, some of the other mods provide this and it you remove the mod sometimes it takes the original files with it. Reinstall the game then try to unpack the mod straight into your Freelancer install (This method insures all of the mod files get to the places they need too).
I attempted somthing similar to that, I took the folder that I had unpacked the mod into, and moved it into the freelancer folder, overwriteing the other files that it had conflicts with. This got rid of the .dll conflict, but then when I went to run the game itself, the screen blackened (like it normally would to play the game), and then the game shut down and an error report message pops up. is there anything different from the way that I did it, and the way that you said I should? I will try it the other way jsut in case.
Go to My Games in My Documents (Documents if you have Win 7) and delete the Freelancer folder.
OKAY! It works.....somewhat. It wouldn't even fire up before deleting the freelancer folder.....unfortunatly, when it gets to the main page of the game, the first 2 options ( what would have been new game and Load game respectively) both say: disabled. is there something else I need to do? I am going to try it again, re-download the file and resinstall the game.....the whole nine yards. you seem to be on around midnight for me, so I should have enough time to make another post about my success before you are online. By the way, If you made this, or know who did, tell them that the front page of the game is sweet! love the music too!
Ok. I have redownloaded the mod, uninstalled and deleted all previous files, and then reinstalled the game, and unpacked the mod directly into the freelancer folder located in the program files folder. (I have windows xp). ( I also deleted the file in the microsoft games folder) The game fired up, but I still have the same problem as earlier: with the frist two files saying :disabled. everything else is the same, meaning that I can sucessfully access the credits, options, and multiplayer areas.....it is just the new game and load game button that say disabled. When I click on either of them, it comes up with a loading screen (music is still playing) and then the game fails, shuts down, and I return to the windows desktop. any ideas?
I still cannot play the game. Both of the options to play a new game or load a saved game say "disabled" ANY IDEAS?
The mod is multiplayer only
Any chance it can be made singleplayer?
Can this integrate with FLMM? I understand this is MP only, but if I enter a universe/system with no other players.. is there anything to do? Are there NPCs there? Thanks.. btw.. this sound sweet!
You can add this mod to FLMM, all you have to do is create a folder in the mods directory and extract to it. The mod requires a server version to work (It is not available) using the client as a server will only let you see the first system then it will crash as soon as you leave that system. The server is reasonably populated (25 to 30 at peak and 3 - 5 during the late hours). The server is US based so EU players will have a higher ping. Everyone is welcomed to come and play.
Still one of the best Freelancer Mods to date. With ships from nearly every sci fi in existance, and 100's of systems to explore it is a blast. There are plenty of systems to find and explore filled with NPC's of various factions. some will be friendly, some hostile. Your actions will effect your standings with those factions. Plenty to see and do regardless if you are alone or among allies. Having friends makes for a much fuller and more fun experience though.
Not abariable to download
i love to try this modd but it seems its not available to download can anyone tell me how to download the modd
I've just downloaded it from this site. I wasn't logged in at the time. It could be a hiccup with ModDB.
This needs single player. Well, I think so anyway.
is this online only?
if i didn't miss anything it's just a nice mod with no server files released...
wtf is wrong with every modder nowadays that they create mods that don't support private hosting -.-"
