No one would have a room which is completely dark in the middle of it. First, I would actually make it a little bit smaller than it is. It's a bedroom, not an entrance hall or so. Then you could add some things like bookshelves to make it look more interesting and tables in the middle of the room with stuff on it. Closets would also make the room look better.
On the tables you could place candles OR you could add a hanging lamp in the middle on the room (on the ceiling of course :P).
Finally, add some windows. The air must be horrible in there. :P
