These trains, often with bulletproof plating, would be used as make shift armored units. During the Russian Civil War, whom possessed such trains on the Trans Siberian could steer the future of the nation. During WW2, Nazi German's lifelines were defended by these and fought off the resistance or partisans. During the Cold War, as shown in the picture, they became mobile missile silos.
