If you kept the source engine and changed the physics (So driveing wouldn't be so unstable) It would be gold in my eyes.
Changeing engine would probably be easier, but would lose my interest(Since I like source engine, even tho it has different builds and bugs) But I'm one out of many.
Hope there is still a spark in the development of the game.
How well are the driving mechanics gonna be? Are they gonna be better drive-ability wise than the vehicles in gmod and other Half-life games?
We solve these problems.
Physics would certainly be very different from physics in Half-Life.
Make such a project on this engine is very difficult, therefore so long as there is no news.
Maybe we'll make a game on another engine...
