My recommendation is release it as soon as possible. It may be a verion 0.1 with just some new effects and textures, but you'll already have a release that you can build off of.
Rather than trying to build it into bigger and bigger and postpone release until you have "more things".
The most succesful mods (like Counter-Strike) released very early and then built over it.
