The 'Middle Earth Roleplaying Project' aims to recreate J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth in the Creation engine of 'Skyrim'. The player will be plunged into Middle Earth near the end of the Third Age, not long before the War of the Ring breaks out.

Yes, we're making far faster progress than in Oblivion. This time we are a big and experienced team right from the start. We know what we want and how best to do it.

Amazing! I really love how incredibly MASSIVE the mountains are in MERP. Makes most of the mountains in Skyrim look like little hills. :P

Well, the 'mountains' in Skyrim actually are little hills (except for the throat of the world maybe). The mountains in MERP are going to be as mountains should be: high and mennessing and impossible to cross unless by using passes. Or at least that is what I hope to see :P

The mountains in Skyrim-MERP are less high than in Oblivion-MERP, but they'll still be bigger than Skyrim's. I'd say about 60% higher on average.

It'll be released when its released.
And it'll be longer if people keep asking the same question over and over ;)

We don't make estimates, it's impossible to know and it disappoints people if we don't make it. We show our progress, that way everyone can guess themselves if they wish.

This is absolutely beautiful, Perhaps could you add horses with crests and armor plating? so you can buy a horse from a gondorian stable (plate with more hps but slower gallop) for lets say 5000g and a Pure bred Gondorian war horse for something like 10000g or something? Same with rohan and you get normal horses in villages?

That looks extremely good!!! A Question though, will the world map be like skyrim or like oblivion? Cause since it was a normal map in Oblivion it added the affect of mystery, you didnt know how the area looked like until you actually visited it.

I'll most likely be a paper map like in OB ;)
In hard mode at least

We will have a paper map by default, but the Skyrim version will be kept in as an option the player can choose. It isn't any problem to keep since it is created automatically.

We don't make estimates. However, our development plan, which will be detailed when this page is completely finished, will allow for playable (as in, fully playable, not just landscapes) releases in a much, much more timely manner than Oblivion. Hopefully that satisfies your curiosity.

Is the contruction of this page anywhere near completion? Can't wait to read through your plans, see new screenshots, not having to look at 'We're sorry, but no news has been posted here' anymore etc. :P

As soon as you have the map done please start releasing it. Would be awesome to start walking around even with no buildings or creatures.

The map is done, and such a release is being considered. No promises though.
