Maybe you could make an attempt at even more realistic economy- such as varied value of currency depending on the power of state's economy? F.e., Gondor's currency being stronger than Rohan's, Dwarven being stable and unchanging etc.

Very hard-coded. We might do a lighter version of this for the Realism Mode though ;)

So why are there different currencies? Does this affect the amount they are worth in each nation e.g. Gondor gold coin worth 20 in gondor but in Rohan it's only worth 10?

Something like that ;) You'll exchange your coins with other faction's coins in that faction's towns.

Or you could just use the 'common' coins; Copper, Silver, Gold and perhaps Platinum.

And use there coins to buy Faction related Items instead...?

Wow nice but there is something I don't get-why would Smaug have his own coins?
Also what money will they use in Bree and what about hobbits?

My fault! Sorry i corrected it now. Shire will have the dragon and Bree will have both Shire coins and Dwarven as it doesn't really have central authority to mint their own coins ;)

You think they do? ;)

Yes. I think they do. They certainly trade with humans and find gold and jewelry a valuable posession (Hobbit).

They'll have elven salesmen barter instead of having a currency system of their own. We see elves finding money to be a frivolous thing they have no need for. Same goes for some primitive salemen using bartering (Example: a Lossoth trader up near the Forodwaith)
