Are you planning brand new system for flamethrowers ? I know flamethrower is something that is almost unchangeable but im talking about range etc. because flamethrower is extremely favorite weapon among Imperial Guardsmen and Adeptus Astartes and i dont think you can use it just like as you can read in books where IG used them to clear whole enemy attack from trenches when here have flamethrower range of about 15 or 10 ? I think you could try to change max range for flamethrower to 30-40,i know it may be OP but still, when you cant kill trooper with flamethrower before he throw his grenade then bye bye to your troops.

And melta guns, are you planning adding them ? And how you gonna make their unique attack ?

I can't exactly comment on the flamethrower,
as for the Melta gun, think of it as like a jet lighter, but it's on crack cocaine, crystal meth, and steroids. Basically, it's an OP flamethrower that shoots sun flares coated in thermite and phosphorous (it's a comparison, they don't actually work that way). Melta guns were intended, but as for the system, well, they are quite unique. We'd have to give them a ranging system similar to the flamethrower. Their fast blasts might be a bit more difficult, but these things have to also be able to chew through some armor and everything that comes into contact with the beam.
My best guess? A combination of napalm effects like the flamethrower followed by various little explosion effects within the beam.
Think of it as kinda like a line of grenades going off at the same time under a short shotgun blast.
So while the actual FX shows a laser beam looking shot, the real effects happen within the beam. It's a tad bit difficult to explain and I'd assume it's just as difficult if not more to code and work it into the game.
