Hello,

First of all I'd like to thank the creator of this mod: Sturmfürer. Thank you for all the hard work you do and for concentrating on historical accuracy, which is now days rarely seen in World War 2 games.

I just wanted to add some tips and mistakes I noticed in the Soviet uniforms. They are very small in detail, but I just thought that you would like to know them for historical purposes. I know that there is a lot more work to do, that has a way higher priority, but this could be fixed in some future update. I confess that I don't know anything about modelling or anything to do with modding, so I don't know if you have to completely model the skins.

1) The cockades that the Red Fleet soldiers are wearing in their headgear seem to be incorrect. That type of pattern was used during the Cold War and "normal" stars we're worn during the Great Patriotic War. I will attach photos of the right star.

2) The collar tabs of the Frontiers man are wrong. They should be the way, like they are below for the rank of Sergeant Major (Starshina).

Also the Guards Badge and Order of the Great Patriotic War shouldn't be worn on his uniform at that time. You could delete them and add an Order of the Red Star to replace them and "give some color".

Here is an Border Guards visor hat that was worn during the war. The wartime cap used the same m36 star as the Soviet sailors cap.

What do you think of the latest Soviet Commisar Visor, re-modelled?

It looks good to me Sturm! If this is for a field political officer, then their visor hats were made out of textile and colored after the branch of service. The leather ones weren't worn on the field at all due to my knowledge.

Political officers only really existed during the early parts of the war, after that their roles were heavily toned down and they didn't receive any special insignia. If you want to make June-August 1941 politruk, then you need to add a special insignia to sleeves, of their tunics. I will attach a photo of what the star is like and if you want to create model of a political officer, then I can give good scans of a star like this from my own collection.

Here's how the politruks (commissars) uniform would have looked in detail. Politruks served in all branches of the military and this tunic is for Lieutenant of Artillery.

Thanks for the information and picture references.

That visor is most probably going to be used for a Tankist Major, not a field officer. Field officers will have a visor made of cloth with the appropriate lining colour to match their branch of service.

I will show you a picture of the field variant later today for your assessment.

Cheers,
Sturm.

That sounds good. Tankist officers would either use the visor or the earlier leather tank helmets, as the canvas ones were introduced later.

I'm eagerly waiting for the photos.

Hello,

Just some corrections I wanted to add.

This headgear was purely used during the Cold War, but not during the WW2. I think Naval Marine didn't use any piltoka's (sidecaps) specifically designed for them.

It would be better to use these peakless caps for the marines. Here are good reference photos to a wartime one.

Now, the text around the cap around the cap is for Red Banner fleet in the Baltic Fleet. If you want to create one for basic Baltic Fleet or the Black Sea infantry, then you should use these texts.

Black Sea Fleet

Baltic Fleet

For the tank helmets: no red stars were worn in them.

Cockades of this style weren't used at all during the WW2.

I really like the caps you've made! I will just add minor details.

This style of cap was used by officers of infantry.

For artillery visor hat, you should use this color.
