Yeah some people may have seen this including Sturm but I just wanted to put it onto the forum website to have a lot easier editing and posting - plus it looks more professional. I'll try to keep this updated with information every now and again, I really want to see Yugoslavia introduced into this mod aswell as some other factions that would fall under its category...

Below you will find some information I have pieced together from other websites and real life sources,

Yugoslavia
__________

The Kingdom of Yugoslavia, a bizarre state of mixed ethnicity and slightly different cultures that existed during the Interwar period. Unsteadily merged together after World War I, Croats, Serbs and Slovenes lasted for a short twenty-five before an Axis invasion led by German forces. The state was ruled by a Serbian dynasty, Karađorđević which had been in power for some time in the Serbian Kingdom. Yugoslavia however had no monarch, Peter II at the time being to young to claim the throne. So instead Regent Paul took his place until he reached the appropriate age. He attempted to keep Yugoslavia in a neutral standpoint, many neighbors however had already aligned with the Axis Powers (Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Italy and Albania) and put intense pressure onto Paul's decision and made staying neutral much more difficult. Eventually the regent could resist no longer, and remaing neutral was no longer an option. Yugoslavia became one of the newest members to sign the Tripartite Pact (March 5, 1941)- Adolf Hitler now having secured a strong presence in the Balkans was able to pass German troops through Yugoslavia peacefully and into Greece to assist the Italians. Not shortly after Yugoslavia's signing, a coup d'etat occured (March 27, 1941) and the Regent Paul was revoked of his authority and Peter II crowned King with the help of former Air Force Officer Dušan Simović and other pro-western Serb royalists. Demonstrations in Belgrade supported Peter, Hitler was furious.

Punishment
__________

Enraged, Adolf Hitler and his allies began immediate planning and ideas of splitting Yugoslavia amongst themselves. The invasion, or Operation 25 was launched with haste (April 6, 1941). Within a week the Royal Yugoslav Army had routed, half of their troops joining the Axis side at the front lines (mainly Croatian) and surprisingly picking up their weapons and fighting alongside the Germans against the Yugoslav Monarchy. It was a clear tactical victory for the Axis, the only problem being it had greatly delayed "Operation Barbossa" in the eastern front. Had the Yugoslavs remained true to their word and been aligned to the Axis throughout the whole war the plan would not have been launched a few weeks earlier, or perhaps even a month. An independent Croatian state was created that served as a "guard" in the Yugoslav regions. SS units were formed to keep the local population in check, and battle Chetnik and Partisan forces that gave fierce resistance against Axis occupation.

Guerrilla Resistance
__________

Resistance movements were quickly formed to throw the invaders out of their homeland. This included Chetniks and Partisans. The Chetnik movement were a Serb nationalist and monarchist paramilitary organization; originating in 1904 they were formed to revolt against Ottoman (Turkish) occupation. Having partcipated in both Balkan Wars and World War I a few experienced members remained to live under German occupation. Led by Draža Mihailović, the Chetnik movement's original goal was to restore the king's power, throughout the Yugoslav Front however the Chetniks began to collaborate with Italian and German forces, Milhailović thought of resistance in terms of setting up an organization which, when the time was ripe, would rise against the occupying forces. Chetnik forces were already supplied with appropriate equipment leftover from abandoned armories; not to mention German forces supplying Chetnik fighters with much more advanced rifles and gear. Partisan forces used "hit and run tactics", slowly emerging from their homes the Partisans started in few numbers yet somehow ended up crushing German forces and establishing a socialist government that proved to be one of the most successful communist nations of its time. Josip Broz "Tito"was the man yokel peasants looked up to, he proved to be a fierce leader and a respected man when he became the first president of Yugoslavia. Ethnically Croat, Tito was born in Austria-Hungary and participated in World War I; having been captured by Russian forces during a battle Tito was sent to work a camp in the Ural Mountains where prisoners selected him for their camp leader. In 1917, revolting workers broke into the prison and freed the prisoners. Tito subsequently joined a Bolshevik group and supported the Reds during the Russian Civil war - so much infact he joined a Red Guard Unit and met his lovely wife whom he brought back to Yugoslavia after the successful revolution. Mobilizing men to join the communist cause was difficult, the odds of the Partisans succeeding was very slim. If anyone of the partisans took German troops head on, total annihilation was to come and so they adapted to Guierlla Warfare. Having to steal equipment, install ambushes along mountains and paved roads the Partisans gained support of the British and they immediately began sending them supplies.

Royal Yugoslav Equipment
__________

Uniforms:

From left to right,

1941 Apr., Captain, Infantry Regiment
1941 Apr., Private, Infantry Division
1941 Mar., Senior Sergeant, Artillery Unit

Uniforms for the common soldier did not drastically change much, must they still wore a traditional cap as oppose to a helmet (although some did) and dark brown or beige colored trenchcoats with sturdy military boots. As far as weapons I believe that they used Mosin-Nagants and old French rifles, correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not too sure.

So In conclusion...

Could you try to include the Royal Yugoslav Army in your mod, as well as Chetnik and Partisan forces? Chetniks would require custom models, but Partians would be simple to make. If you do go ahead with my idea I would have a few people to possibly voice all three groups. I could also possibly help you with the creation of units, their apparel, types of vehicles etc. Yeah thanks for reading the giant blobs of information I have too!

If you see some weird text before this post ignore it, I can't seem to get rid of it.

Excellent post Johnny, I will definitely refer to this post once I get around to implementing the Balkan factions.
