Experience some of the fiercest battles of WWII across North Africa with Mare Nostrum. Building on the realistic, tactical game play that made Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45 a fan favourite, Mare Nostrum lets players battle it out in an all new theatre of war. Featuring British, Australian, German and Italian nations, choose from a range of authentic weaponry or crew 1 of 10 fully realised vehicles. With 8 different battle environments the game play is varied from gritty street to street fighting in urban surroundings, to all out tank warfare in the open desert. This is North Africa, but not like you have seen it before. On the 17th October 2008, Mare Nostrum became the first, third party game MOD to be made available on Steam.

Description

Libya: Roman Ruins, 23rd January 1943

North Africa has been one of Man’s greatest battlegrounds since the dawn of recorded history. No ancient civilizations have left as deep a mark on the region than the Roman Empire. The decaying ruins of this once-great empire have served as the backdrop for many a war and many a victory. Now, in 1943, battle lines are once again drawn amongst Roman columns, shattered temples and grand amphitheatres.

Inspired by the ruins of Leptis Magna and other extraordinarily preserved examples of Roman history, Fallen Empire represents one of the many random engagements that were fought while the Afrika Korps were in withdrawal. Become the newest soldier to spill the blood of your enemy on battlegrounds whose sands have seen war and conquest for thousands of years.
