It's a pretty cool effect but in my opinion parallax mapping works better in small quantities. Fallout 3, FEAR and GTA4 all use it for bullet hole decals and such.
Actually FEAR also uses it for brick textures and other walls to make them look 3D. It has some pretty good uses but if you want to make it work on stuff like this the seams where walls meet create matching problems unless you have the right tech.

Yep, that's the conclusion I came to after testing. The rather unsubtle usage here isn't how I'd actually employ it, haha.
