The L.U.R.K. team wants to provide the best possible experience from Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, we don't plan to skew the scope of this game, because I, like many others, fell in love with the game because of the story, the realistic gameplay, and the atmosphere. I plan to preserve and improve on that concept to the best of my abilities, and our team has vowed to do so as well. Which is why we took it upon ourselves to provide that experience. We want to fulfill a niche that's otherwise unfulfilled in the modding community. We want to bring as many features to Stalker without damaging or changing the original theme of the game. While improving upon that concept with features that were dropped off the development cycle from GSC, such as stealth AI, and a strong foundation for balance, as well as dynamic A-Life, and an unprecedented visual presentation that no other Stalker Overhaul can touch.

Playing 1.1, controller does damage, blur filters/crossing eyes effects onscreen, etc, except these effects never go away, even if I move on to the next section, and several minutes pass by, or even if I go back and kill the controller, then wait. The blue bar in the inventory is almost full, but not quite.

It's my understanding that there aren't any items to consume to get back your sanity or whatever, and that the effects just go away in time - or that's how I remember it. Anyway, the effect of having these damage effects all the time is almost as if I'm constantly drinking vodka. It's a deal breaker. Are there any solutions that don't involve starting a new game? Maybe a console command that resets your status or something?

It's a killer.

Yea, I have the same issue. I got hit once by the controller, and now I've gotten the documents, walked back to the bar, and slept....but the psy-effects are still there, and it makes it damn near impossible to be accurate. On top of the lack of accuracy, its just plain fucking annoying, AND with my view going cross-eyed every half second I can't enjoy the graphics upgrade.

I just started over and rushed up to that point. This time I killed the controller fast enough that he didn't get to do anything to me, so everything's fine - but the bug's definitely there.

Save early and save often, I guess.

I did save often...but I ignored it thinking it was just a longer-lasting variant of the original thing. >.>

I too am having this god awful issue. Is there anyway to cancel the effect in the console perhaps?

psy_health_v in actor.ltx is set to 0

Is this a troll move?

If you're having problems related to brain damage not going away (which
will be everyone who receives brain damage), you'll have to set the
value for psy_health_v in gamedata/config/creatures/actor.ltx to 0.001,
which was the vanilla value. This has to be an oversight, because it's
very gamebreaking.

Thank you Wonder. You are a life saver.

I concur. This was a gamebreaking issue, and now its non-existant. Thanks a million mate.
