The L.U.R.K. team wants to provide the best possible experience from Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, we don't plan to skew the scope of this game, because I, like many others, fell in love with the game because of the story, the realistic gameplay, and the atmosphere. I plan to preserve and improve on that concept to the best of my abilities, and our team has vowed to do so as well. Which is why we took it upon ourselves to provide that experience. We want to fulfill a niche that's otherwise unfulfilled in the modding community. We want to bring as many features to Stalker without damaging or changing the original theme of the game. While improving upon that concept with features that were dropped off the development cycle from GSC, such as stealth AI, and a strong foundation for balance, as well as dynamic A-Life, and an unprecedented visual presentation that no other Stalker Overhaul can touch.

Oversaturated lightening when enabling Sun Shafts (Games : S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl : Mods : L.U.R.K. : Forum : Suggestions : Oversaturated lightening when enabling Sun Shafts) Locked

After buying a new gfx card I figured I'd enable sun shafts in the SKY options, which work, but when enabled you'd have a really oversaturated lightening and alot of the red/white areas are reflecting a pink glow. Eventually I got around fixing this by changing the weather files and gave the sun a more neutral light. Just thought I should share this here as on the GSC forums thread people are more buzzy picking on eachother, rather then discussing the mod.

A few example screenshots and a link to the files on rapidshare:

  • forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=3619937&postcount=29 - screenshots (after the fix)
  • rapidshare.com/files/402285860/lurk11_sunshafts_pinkfix.rar - files

To install (don't bother if you have an aging computer with a gfx card older then a 8800GT(X), it takes to much performance), just install lurk and the latest patch and overwrite the files with the ones in the rarfile. It might not be perfect for some, but atm I took a rather simple approach:

  • The sun emits a light, which is controlled in the weather files through Red, Green & Blue values
  • The emitted light was to bright and overly red/pink for combination with sunshafts
  • For every hour of the day I took the average of the R, G & B values to create a brightness similar to original LURK and yet try to make the colour of the lightening more "neutral"
This post is actually directed to holden, this way he could implement sun shafts for people that like to play with them. On the other hand, people can try it out by using the files in the link. Install lurk, apply patch and then apply the files.

Cheers,
