The Prisoner
When we started this project the goal we set ourselves is to create a refreshingly fun campaign with plenty of original content. Having original custom characters to go with the campaign is a big part of this goal and, as far as I'm aware, something that hasn't been done before in L4D2.
From my initial designs to a working in-game model has been a lot of work and we can finally show you the first of our 4 custom survivors. He currently being developed with Peter (Pappaskurtz) finalising the model/rig and Miztaegg adding detail to the texture. Now that we have a working production line we should be able to produce the remaining characters in an efficient time frame and I hope to show you them over the next few months.
Below is a video showing the Prisoner working in-game with running commentary from myself (Andrew Bennison). I've also uploaded some screenshots to the gallery which you can view above.

Levels
Levels 1 - 3 are reaching a presentable stage, as this has been a steep learning curve for all the designers a lot of work has been put in to refine our designs. It has paid off and I will aim to get some screenshots and videos up over the next few weeks.
Vacancies
We are looking for more team members to contribute content and speed up the development:
- 3D artist for environment art
- 2D artist for textures, signs etc.
- Graffiti artists for the numerous pieces throughout the campaign
- Voice actors for the 4 survivors
I will get around to updating the vacancies page and going into more detail for each role. If you are interested in contributing you can respond here, message me or send an email to prospect.developer@gmail.com
You can also follow us on Twitter and our Facebook group
Thanks for reading and look out for more updates soon.
Great job so far, I love how you guys are using custom player models!
BTW do you guys have a tutorial on how to make custom characters? I looked around and I just can't seem to find a good one
Hi, I don't think there is any one location that has a start-to-finish tutorial, you have to piece together info from all over the place. There is a big difference between making a custom survivor out of an existing model and creating one from scratch.
I remember somewhere on this blog Ubtri.blogspot.com
There was a tutorial on importing characters
Fpsbanana.com
Developer.valvesoftware.com
Decent links too. More of a focus of getting your model in-game, if you want modelling tutorials there are loads on the web. Hope this helps and good luck!
