New to Version 1.1a of the mod is compatibility with the Steam version of TRON 2.0, easier installation, v1.1 bug fixes, and restored Multiplayer support in-game on both the CD/DVD and Steam versions. The objective of the Killer App Mod for TRON 2.0 on the PC, is to incorporate elements from TRON 2.0: Killer App for the Xbox platform that were never released for the PC version of TRON 2.0. It also includes other fixes and additions for the game, such as 16:9 and 16:10 Widescreen support.

Some news about what you can expect in the future, from the team that worked on the User Error Single Player expansion for TRON 2.0 on the PC.

Posted by on

While the team that brought you User Error for TRON 2.0 on the PC, has been pretty quiet for the last couple of years: it doesn't mean we haven't been working on updates or other things, in the meantime.
Today, we're going to show you what you can expect from us in the future.

User Error 3

This is an early, rough test version of a cutscene, for a level in the upcoming User Error 3. The User Error team had always planned to do another mission as a sequel, and we now feel the time is right to work on this next chapter.

We don't have an estimate on the total number of levels, or an ETA, at this time. But we're looking to create a fairly lengthy campaign (close to the same length as Part 2), and we'll be trying to increase the overall quality and polish of our work. It's been four years since the original release of User Error Part 2, and in that time we've learned a lot of new tricks that we think will show in Part 3.

Thanks from the User Error team, and if you have any questions or comments: visit the LDSO message forum, the TRON fan sites, or leave comments here on ModDB. Do not use the "Send Message" link on ModDB, otherwise your feedback may not be read for a long time.

Thanks for the updates! It is good to hear about the upcoming fixes to the Killer App Mod as everything you mentioned was on my list of things I wanted fixed most :)

------

I have yet to play User Error as I am still playing through Tron 2.0 singleplayer with the Killer App Mod. The rough cut scene above looks neat. I have watched bits of a Let's Play series for the mod and was impressed by it overall. My biggest request for User Error 3 would be some better level design if possible, as it looks frustrating or uninteresting in some sections due to some boxy levels, lab rat mazes, that windows error part with the crazy colors (the forest with the spiders looked great though). Sure some of it may make sense for the story... but it just looked a bit painful to the eyes and/or boring to play through.

I know you have little to no official mod tools or support, and that you are working for free. I appreciate whatever you output regardless :D Just wanted to give you feedback for what I feel you need to improve the most at a glance.

It's pretty certain that everyone involved will be striving to up the "eye candy" factor where possible, in the next UE mission. I'm sure you'll see the difference as we post more previews. :)

You should try to play the second half of UE,(UE_2). Have a feeling you may enjoy the look and flow of those levels a bit more than the first half.

There was some brief discussion about switching to another engine. But we want to work with the actual Tron IP, rather than create some kind of knock-off mission. So, to avoid legal hassle in using actual Tron story elements, characters, vehicles, etc. that pretty much means a mod for one of the existing Tron games.

Besides, how many people can say they managed to overcome the pitiful tools they were given for a game like Tron 2.0 and create something significant with them? It's the challenge that makes this interesting and rewarding to us. We're enjoying enhancing and breathing new life into an old game that didn't get the attention it deserved.
