Isle of Ascent is a Source Engine Metroidvania. Explore an interconnected world, finding items and upgrades to help you progress.
There are plenty of areas to explore, but it may not always be clear how to get there. In some areas, certain items and abilities will be required to progress. Levels include heavy use of shortcuts and verticality.
In addition to exploration, Isle of Ascent features giant, cinematic boss battles, and plentiful cinematic physics!
Giant, powerful bosses will impede your progress. Oftentimes, you'll have to think creatively to take them down.
Exploration is key to finding powerful items and abilities. Some of these items will be vital to progress!
Items and abilities, such as a Shield or a Double jump, will be vital for progression.
World Layout
The world layout was initially constructed in Blender, as Isle of Ascent has a compact, interconnected world, and Source can't handle such large maps in a single map file. I had to get creative to carefully hide level transitions, and have skyboxes match up to their actual locations.

Now this is utterly fascinating. Reminds me of a few mods from the Golden-era of modding predating episode 2 like Eclipse and Shredded Sails that tried to tackle fantasy settings.
