The fog is way too thick (Unless there's a fire), and the color is bland. Change the color to be more bluish, I think it will look better.
I also like blueish fog and lighting in general, however I think it would look out of place that way in this case, since it would look kind of weird or "fake" (except if you just add blueish lighting instead of blueish fog).
The thick fog really fits into this (especially because of the monster in the background), so I have to almost completely disagree with you here. I would, like you said, make it a little bit thinner though, but NOT too much. So I wouldn't say it's "way" too thick.
